I bet you never knew I'd been away. I've just gotten back from a sewing slump. I had a UFO on my desk for almost 2 months, and it was bugging me b/c I kept stumbling--This is the one that I had to re-cut one of the sleeves and ended up cutting 2 left sleeves (or right? who ven remembers now?). I got over the hump and then went into over drive. I have 3 finished garments in 4 days, and plans for more. What's better--I used all stash supplies. Next up: I'm going to turn a pair of jeans into a skirt for my little girl. Might as well, b/c she "only wears skirts and dresses" unless it's a terrible pants emergency. Here are pics. Very cute things Andrea. My little ones won't wear dresses. Just the oppisite. My little Trinatte will wear them she loves to twirl in them. Sometimes we have to get away from the boards to get some sewing in. That's one of my big problems..........if I'm on the computer I'm not at the sewing machine. I have to do one or the other. I used up most of my stash on pillowcases at Christmas time. Now I have to restock!!!! I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

I love the print fabric dress - I would not have thought of using such a large print for a small dress but it works great. Well done on using the stash - back to the shops then!
love and kisses, Jan

Great job, Andrea. I love that first dress you made - so feminine, I think the print complements the cut really well. Oh, to be a little girl again and get to wear something like that!! Your daughter must be very happy

Very nice. I like that wrap around skirt. Is that little or is it your size? I remember the sleeve issues very well! Dorothy |

Everything looks great Andrea. The yo yo flower looks cute teamed with that yardage...so dainty. I bet your little one can't wait for the warm weather to come. Good job! |

Thanks, all. And yes, she's happy. Answers: The skirt is a little girl size 5, roughly. Not from a pattern-I wrapped it around her, pinned some darts, and finished the edges, that's about it. Yes, she loves the floral knit dress--wore it to school today, and also to bed tonight! She wanted to wear the halter criss-cross, but since we still have snow on the ground I told her she'd have to wear a long sleeved shirt under it. Well, that would ruin everything, wouldn't it? She's hoping for an early spring.

The yo-yo remined me of Angela on "Project Runway", except you used yours in moderation and it added to your completed garment. I actually thought her name was Andrea too. Nice work and kudos on bustin' up the stash. |

I agree with Sew Sassy. Yoyos are so pretty - as long as they are used moderately. I loved your use of it.

And yes!! Completing garments have another major advantage - you're entitled to some new stash!

Very cute outfits, Andrea! I like them all. Great job on using up the stash. Now you have an excuse to go fabric shopping--soon. By the way, I'm hoping for an early spring, too, so maybe if your daughter and I wish really hard together, it will happen. |

Love the outfits, especially the pink print dress, it's really adorable. I know what you mean about the slump, sounds like a few of us were in it this year. I'm out of mine and back at it too, now if I could just avoid work for a month or so to get all my projects done......

Wouldn't that be great, Laura? My sewing guild arranges 2-3 day retreats every so often, and so far, I haven't been able to picture myself leaving the family "just" to sew. Now that I've had such a big week (finished 2 more projects after the ones I posted above), I think I can relate. It would be like kids' sleepaway camp, but no Color Wars. I can really see getting up from the sewing table, and walking in to the dining room to find dinner all prepared, enjoying a meal, clearing my plate, and getting right back to what I was doing. someday...
