![]() For my 7 yr old I was thinking Wonder woman...... I have some great fabric that is white red and blue striped with stars on it..... Could I make her a corset out of that fabric (of course she would wear this over a tee) and then make her some blue shorts from the blue satin ( I have fray check and a serger so hopefully this will make it less likely to bust a seam????) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Just give it your best shot - at that short notice mine all ended up dressed in a sack with a rope tied around the middle and told they were celts, either that or a sheet turned toga...(tie the rope under the bust for a Roman)

Well I don't do a lot with satin, but since this is just a quick costume why not try some bias tape.

Or heck if you have some steam a seam, just iron a hem in...it's a costume.

one problem... I have never used bias tape and have always been slightly afraid... is it hard to work with? I will pick some up from the store tomorrow and give it a go as long as you guys think it is simple enough to do on satin ![]() ![]() ![]() |

OH yeah steam a seam! Just use a pressing cloth and the minimum heat required for the steam a seam. Gina

Wow you are brave. I would have did what Jan said wrap them in a sheet. Mine wouldn't have been Roman Toga's they would have been mummies. My grands would do that to me in Chalmette and come to me for bailing them out only thing it was 8:30PM the night before they had to have it. the teachers would all what to see what I came up with I guess they knew I was nuts.
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

lol MotherinLaw. Well, the teachers didn't tell me til yesterday. :( The wonderwoman out fit is done! (Minus the hemming on the pants!) lol I am going to the store today for some red fabric for strawberry shortcake ;D I also have to pick up a compass, steam a seam and some bias binding. I really want to try it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reason I am going all out on this: 1 . daughters have to look nice.... lol 2. I sew lots of 'boutique' looking clothes for them and their friends parents have bought some because of how they look and the quality. 3. the teachers know I can sew so probably are looking for something grand! Gah the pressure! ![]() |

I remember those days. I used to get so upset when the kids would tell at 10PM that they needed cookies or cupcakes for the next day. I was a single mother and had to be up for work at 5. I really don't miss those times, but have a feeling I will be getting back into them when my granddaughter is in school.

When my dd was about 7 or 8 she came up with a character named "Mighty Fox". She was always "producing" plays with other kids, drawing and coming up with characters and stories. So naturally she wanted to be Mighty Fox for Halloween. I had her drawing to go by and I will say it turned out great and I know I have a picture somewhere.......... Just want to say how lucky your kids are to have a Mom who's so willing to do this for them. If they don't appreciate it now they sure will when the grow up. Can't wait to see the finished products. You're a good Mom, lady. ![]() Lennie |
