Hi, I'm relatively new here and I have a quick question I hope someone can help me out with. I want to sew a curtain for a window that measures 45"(w) X 82" (l). I want it anchored at the top & bottom and pulled in at the middle with a 24" wide piece of fabric. Picture what you might see on a full window door or french doors, kwim?

My question is how much play do I need in the length of the curtain, so that I can pull the sides in at the center, does that make sense? Maybe none?

I wouldn't make any allowances for pulling in the middle. Just make sure the fit is a bit generous from top to bottom. (No pulling the screws out of the woodwork. :bluesmile )

It also depends on whether you want to pull it in "all the way" or just maybe a foot across. KWIM? :bg:

The tighter it can be and work the nicer it will look.

Good luck, Lennie

Here are the instructions for the curtain you want from the front page of this site: http://sew-whats-new.com/CMS/content/view/36/46/

Thanks both of you :) I am so excited to make these, my version of spring cleaning ;)

I'm making these for our school room (homeschool) from the new (I think?) Michael Miller, Dick & Jane fabric. I want to use a 24" panel for the waist.
