"Atlanta Thread is pleased to have been selected by Project Runway-The Store as a source for quality sewing products."

Atlanta thread has a page they've entitled project runway. One of its offerings is something called a pattern hook. I am just curious as to what it is used for; hanging up patterns from the ceiling, maybe? Does anyone know?

I think (and this is certainly not written in stone) that pattern hooks are used in mass production settings. Designer patterns are made of heavy pressboard, not tissue, to facilitate multi-layer cutting. The pieces are pierced and hung, by style and size, on these hooks.

Yup, that's perxactly what they are, to hang 'permanent' patterns made from Oaktag (think manilla file folder paper). Somewhere near the top of each pattern peice will be a large hole and the 'T' end of the pattern hook goes through that so all the pieces of that pattern can be hung together. Very handy items, I use them all the time.
