OK! It seems that carman is MIA so I am going to step up and organinze the monthly Fat Quarter Swaps. What I need from everyone is ideas. I am by no means an experienced quilter and I don't have a lot of knowledge of the types of fabric that would interest most. The rules will still be the same 100% cotton etc. etc.

So jump in here with your ideas ladies.

Gina-great! I was thinking of doing this but with moving, etc. there was no way I was going to even begin to be able to organize until May or June.

Specific colors are always good, as are tone on tone, fossil ferns, moda marbles, blenders would be good. R/W/B for July, Christmas-any holiday is always good, bugs, etc.

Can't think of any other ones just now. I'm sure others will have their favorites too. Fossil ferns and moda marbles are usually a little pricier to buy so just give a heads up about that if that's one of the choices-we have a few diehards that really like the fossil ferns-me and Debby for 2!

HMMMM. Anybody else gonna chime in here? Not much of a swap if it is just me and Lynn:bg: . I need opinions. What kind of fabrics to you swap-a-holics need?

Count me in on this one. I'm a quilting fool now!!!! Today at our quilt shop we all brought in 300- 3½ inch squares from our stash. These were the rules. No more than 12 from the same fabric. We took all the blocks, put them in a big box messed them all up so they were all mixed up. Then we had a little bag at our side taped to the tables and we stuck our hand in pulled out two (no peeking) and sewed them together. We kept doing that until we had about 20 pairs together. Then we took one (no peeking) and sewed it onto the pair to make three in a row. Then after we got them all done we made 9 patches. Next week we are going to see how we are going to put them together. It's so much fun.

Or we could do colors, or March green, April spring colors or Easter colors, May flowers, June (skip that one I'll come back to that one later) July summer colors, August school fabric, Sept, fall motif fabric, Oct Halloween, Nov fall colors, Christmas for Dec, Jan Winter, Feb Mardi Gras. he he he he.
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

Hey Gina, I would love to have the swaps start up again. Lyn knows the fabrics I love, the modas and fossil ferns are awesome. Maybe a specific color for each month. Some we have used previously are butterflies, fruits, veggies, we tend to stay away from novelties...like shamrocks for St Pattys...we have done white on whites, black on whites. One of my favorites is when we all pick FQ's we have on hand, and just send one to each, I think it was like a garage sale...sort of a stash weeding...Anyone else have any ideas? Count me in for sure!

Count me in on the swap. I just started quilting and I would love be in on a swap. I use the same quilt shop that motherinlaw does and like she said, we had a great time yesterday with our little 31/2" blocks. It was so much fun grabbing out of the bag and sewing with no peeking. What a hoot. Anyway I would really love to do a block exchange with you, so just let us know what and when.

No confusion... I mean fat Quarter's in I spy Fabric...I realize it is just the material... not the Quilt Block.

I might be in on this one too if I totally understood what it is we are doing. Is the swap for fat quarters? Can we cut these ourselves? Is is on the same lines as the block swap Patty just had?

Hi Cowqueenie-fat quarters, you can buy pre cut or cut yourself-you can get 8 out of 2 yards of fabric.

You don't have to be a quilter to participate, you can use fat quarters for all kinds of things-I've used many of them to make into skirts for my dgd's, add pocket interest to shorts for the boys, etc.

Plus...it's another excuse to shop!!:bg:

Hi,
I'm willing to do a FQ swap either June, July or August or even September, nothing complicated, or even any other kind of swap, I'll need help since I really don't know much about the swaps, or what people like. only participated in a couple of FQ swaps, a Thimble Swap, and a card swap,
I don't know if that qualifies me to have a swap

Judy-find something you like that matches the theme-it truly is as simple as that. Then you send a FQ to each name on the list. Lots of fun to come home and find a surprise waiting for you in the mail!
