Ah Katherine,

How lucky you were to have had him so long. What more can you ask for? I have an almost 15 y/o Manx and I see him aging slowly but surely. Hope he hangs in there as long as your sweet guy.

A big hug to you. Lennie

I'm so very sorry you lost your baby...I go here..

www.petloss.com

I've been a member for a few yrs now. (due to losing 5 of my babies in 19, 1/2 mnths. 1 was barely a yr old, all had cancer) It helps to talk about our babies, you can post pics, there are candle ceremonies, etc...

[[[ ]]]

I know exactly how you feel...

Kath (mom to ferrets...)

You are a wonderful fur parent to have had your baby so long...what a lucky guy he was to have had you for a Mom...

Thank you all so much! Beaver was a very loving kitty and loved to be the center of attention. He was a great lap warmer and cuddler.

Hugs to you Katherine. We have lost several pets over the past 3 years and it is always a difficult time. Crying cleansed my soul and memories begin to heal it.

Thank you all so much!
Beaver has been with me a very long time and, no, it does not make it any easier. I'm not crying as much today, but yesterday I just let myself feel sad and depressed. Both siblings called me and offered their comfort. My brother even said that I must make life really good for my "children" since they never seem to want to leave me. Sweetpea was 22 when she died and Max was almost 20 when she crossed that rainbow bridge. Missy was 11, which is OLD for a St Bernard.
Thank you, Chrys for giving me the link to the website. It really did help and perhaps I'll post a tribute to Beaver on it.

I am so sorry for your loss......

I have 4 furballs and lost my share of them in the past. It is never easy to let go of something that gives you such unconditional love, but just knowing that he is having the time of his life with his sisters now in Heaven hopefully will make it a easier departure for you.

When you lose a pet that has been in the family for a long time it is just like losing a member of the family. When we lost our dog of 12 years I cried just like I had lost a good family member. So sorry for your loss. But keep on looking at the pictures and you will always remember the good times.

Beaver was every bit a family member. He also knew he was in charge, too. He's probably telling everybody up in Heaven when dinnertime is. Down here, though, things just are not the same.

Hi Katherine,
Gee, sweetie I know things are not the same. I have had losses of my wonderful pets, too. My sweet doxie, Duncan, was only 9 because of them having back problems and I had to be the one to say yea time to go.That was so hard. Now I have a darling cute white mixed chihuahua that I rescued a year and a half ago, Sugar... really she rescued me. I know that God put us together. I was so lonely. And she is so much better than a pure bred. She is pure to me. I love her so much. And she loves me as much.
I am alone. My husband passed away and she is so much a part of my life. It is just me and her here. When and if she goes I know that things will never be the same again. either. But I know she will be waithig for me. So, sweetie, I know like the rest of us do that you have suffered a great loss but like you said he is not suffering anymore ...I would never want that for my baby, either. And you will see him again!!!
My prayers are with you,
Sandy in Georgia

Hi Sandy,

I just read your sweet post to Katherine. I want to welcome you to our board. We're a warm and fun group.

I think you'll find lots of company here. Your loves seem to be sewing and animals. That accounts for many, many here, myself included.

The internet can be a wonderful place to find companionship if you're lonely (and I'm not talking single's sites! :bg: ) If you're looking for compassionate people who are genuinely nice do us and yourself a favor and stick around. I'm sure we can learn a lot from you too.

Katherine - sorry to hear about Beaver. Hugs to you. You were lucky to have had a lovely time together and for him to have lived such a long life it sounds like he was lucky to have you. I hope you have some other pets to cuddle while you're feeling down.

Hi Lennie,
Thank you so much for such a warm welcome. And yes I will do myself a favor and stick around you guys. As you all sound like my kinda people. Not to speak of how much we all have in common. And that is a blessing that is hard to find..good genuine friends.
Again thank you for your sweet comments. It is so nice to meet you!

Sandy in Georgia.
I pray that Katherine is feeling better today.

Sending ((((((hugs)))))) your way. I know how you feel. We lost a 13yo lab about 1 year a half ago. I still miss her. We still have her almost 15yo sister. I think it's even harder when you have a pet for such a long time.
Thanks for sharing the pics. He looked like a cat I lost several years ago.

So sorry to hear of your loss. My family had dogs before I even came along. I don't remember the first dog but I remember being with my mom & brother at the Bide-A-Wee shelter on Long Island. I was 3 and he had just turned 10 - it was a birthday gift. He wanted the little quiet puppy that sat in the back of the cage - not all the ones jumping around & barking. Sheba was with us for 19 years.
It's hard to lose someone who has been a part of the family for so long. I know how you feel.
Sending you hugs your way [[[[[[ ]]]]]]!!
- Maureen.

Thanks, everyone, for your support!
Beaver was with me for almost 2 decades (wow!), but the other 4 cats and 3 bunnies are here to require my attention and give me company. Phoebe still helps me type my newsletters, update my website and other computer stuff. I don't let her or the other cats help me sew because they love to lay all over my stuff and play with things. I cannot have fur on the customer's products and it's hard to find tools, buttons, etc after some one has batted it around. Eddy is especially good at batting stuff around.
Lucy is now the Enforcer of Dinnertime, Phoebe is my greeter when I come home and Eddy has now become the snuggle kitty. Mao is happy to receive belly scratches, treats and conversation. The bunnies have always done the "greet and dash".
I have loads of pictures of everybody on webshots.com (user kmccrea) and my website.

One thing I love (actually 4) are my ferrets...last yr when I needed a nanny for the 4 terrors, I asked my neighbor (who has never had an animal, unless you count the ex...) she was brave for just 24 hrs (we were only 5 hrs away.) she said she didn't realize how rotten, cuddly and kissy they were, till she had them all to herself...(her boyfriend has 2 dogs)...yep...
I can't live without a furry in my life...(my parents had 2 dogs when I was born and they guarded me day and night...)
I hope your furries are helping to fill in the gap...for a bit, till you get to feeling better...

Thanks again, everyone!
I'm not crying so much (tears every now and then), but I still miss Beaver. Yes, he was such a beautiful boy...who thought orange could be fabulous? A real lover boy, too. Maybe he's found some one to cuddle with "upstairs".
