I am working on a pair of short pants from Ottobre, for my ds. They have a set on waistband. I've sewn the waistband onto the inside of the pants and folded it over and am now attempting to sew it onto the right side. I keep getting puckers (gathers) in the seam, the bit of stretch in the fabric seems to be causing this. Any ideas? Is there a trick I don't know? I'm including buttonhole elastic in the pants. I'm trying to get these done for tomorrow, ds' 8th birthday. He loves royal purple and you can't buy boy clothes in royal purple very often. Ashlea

Sorry for the late reply. :( But!!! SOme interfacing should do the trick It helps me out wonders I would add some fusible interfacing to add a little backbone to the waist band. |

Thanks, I had applied some interfacing on one side of the waistband as per the instrucions. I ended up just stretching it here and there, it looks okay, he doesn't care he loves them!!! I still have to finish sewing the belt loops on, two were hanging off the waistband, but he wore them all day anyway. He won't tuck his shirt in so it didn't really matter. I'll try to post a picture in a few days. Sewing for my dd's is easy and rewarding, but sewing for ds is almost more fun, b/c it is more of a challenge, kwim? More challenging to find a "cool" pattern for a boy and when I really make him and say "WOW! Thanks Mommmy!" I feel so proud. Ashlea
