I'm working on a prim project and I'm wondering about weight of thread and size of needle I could use to stitch out the prim alphabet to make it look 'hand made'. What would be the heaviest thread that would be safe to use and I would imagine that I'd have to use a bigger needle?? Would the needle size for denim work or would there be a special sized needle that I'd need to get? I've only seen the 30 wt and 40 wt embroidery threads, but is there heavier available? Can I use that in the bobbin, too? I have a Brother Innovis machine.
Thanks.

#30 is the largest thread you would want to try on that machine. Larger is risking damaging a very expensive bobbincase. I would use a size 14 or 16 Topstitch needle. Your bobbincase is caliberated for size 60-80 bobbin thread when embroidering. Using 30-40 in the bobbincase will most likely produce poor results.
Have fun or don't do it, Tom

Thanks, Tom. I wasn't sure but I knew this forum would be the best place to ask that question!
