Just got back from March break skiing in NH. I'm tired....
also the drive back was tiring, nothing bad, but I find downtown Montreal stressful to drive through, Ottawa has nothing on that mess of highways.

But the holiday was nice and no one broke any limbs!! The kids had a great time and my 4 year old is a speed demon in skis (he is really funny to watch he's 3 foot nothing and just zooms snowplowing down the slopes!)

I must say half of Ontario was in the White Mountains for March break!

At the least, I'd bet that half of Ottawa could have been there. The rush hour traffic was down and the offices were empty! When you talk about driving downtown Montreal, what area were you in. I only drive thru on the expressways and only try to do that outside peak hours. Otherwise it can be slow going.

Just the expressways, 'cause I was driving by myself (well 2 kids too) coming back, on the way out of town I was following my husband,(he is now in NB visiting his mother) :bang: he decided the main routes were too slow and got off the highway, picture me trying to fly through that mess of roads under the 20 by Champlain Bridge trying to keep up with him in my minivan! Glad we had the walkie talkies, If he had of just stuck with the main drag it would have been much better, luckily it was only about 2:30pm so the traffic wasn't too heavy,

I am in those White Mountains. Glad you had a good time and made it back home safely before the snow and sleet.

Jeanette, that is totally familiar territory to me. I am originally from southern QC and most of my family still lives there. So I have driven that route many times over the past 29 years. I hate the Metropolitan as the drivers just cut in and out. Much prefer route 20 over the 40. But have only done it once with someone following me. That can be hectic!

Sounds weird but I almost dread big vacations because of the weeks before and after. Think I prefer getaways for a few days but I sure do love the memories of the big trips. Guess you have to take the good with the bad.

Still it sounds like a great trip. No broken bones is always a good thing!
