I am a member of a Christmas Club at the LQS and our first Quilt of 6 was a half log cabin quilt. I finished piecing it this morning, although, I haven't added the borders yet.. I am thinking about making it bigger that the book says too, just because I like it enough for more than a throw (and I have plenty of left over fabric). Anyway, I thought I'd show you what I have done, and then the finished quilt in a few months after I take my free motion class. Anyway, here it is so far.

I can't wait to finish it all!

I love the overall impression of an off centre spiral - cleverly done - and the fabrics are gorgeous, well done.

Love to see the finished thing.

Steph, what a pretty quilt! I've never seen the half log cabin, but I think your fabric choices make it!

Six quilts.... what a really neat idea, I can't wait to see your next one.

Thanks girls!
I appreciate your kindness! I'm going to put up a tutorial on my blog and on here hopefully this week, incase any of you are interested in making one! Sheri, our teacher, did hers in golds, greens, reds, yellows...muddy colors... and it's just beautiful!

I'm THINKING about quilting japanese symbols on it...instead of stipple, and no real design to follow..etc. What do you think about that? Oh and one more thing, what color quilt thread do you recommend? Im up for anything....red, black, cream???

Thanks!
Stef

If you go to this link
http://swn-archive.sew-whats-up.com/t-21523.html
and read through you will find some links I was given to help me do mine - some nice asian themes going on there. I'd be tempted to quilt it in red - will show up on te black and the cream and help to pull it all together, But then I just love red!
