Does anyone know what all of the things are that a zig zag stitcher is able to do or help you do? I am being offered one and am not sure where it might be useful. :whacky:

MODEL NUMBER for the machine # 265
it is a White Zig-Zag Stitcher made by the White sewing machine co.

I'm not sure whether you're talking about a ZZ sewing machine or a ZZ attachnent for a straight stitch machine. If it is a ZZ machine, I'll leave the answer to the people who sew, but if it is one of those old ZZ attachments, I'll warn you that they are designed to drag the fabric from side to side, and since the feed dogs must still be operational to move the fabric, the side to side must be across the open feed dog slots. The result is that about the only fabric that will give moderately acceptable results is something that is very stiff or heavily starched.
