Hi everyone! I recently went to Hancock Fabrics to search for fabric to use for an outfit to wear to a "dress casual" outdoor wedding in May. I've lost some weight and need something new to wear. I ran across this beautiful linen on their $3.95 fashion fabric clearance table. If you have ever been to Joann's or Hancock's, you know the kind of table I'm referring to. Anyway, getting back to the fabric...The weave looks like a linen, maybe medium weight, it has a little bit of a sheen to it and it doesn't wrinkle!? Well, I pulled it out and began to look at the selvages for info. It has a woven label on the selvage that say "180 LINEN JAPAN TEKIRO". I'm wondering if it is blended, or a table linen type of fabric that isn't linen at all or treated with a process to give it a sheen and prevent wrinkling. I tried to look at the bolt, and it offered no help, either. It had no info on it, except the price tag and it was little wooden strips, stapled together and wrapped in tissue. Well, I bought it on the off chance that I could do something with it (as we sewers so often do ). I brought it home, cut off a 12" length of it, serged the edges and washed it. It didn't shrink any at all!? I'm inclined to believe that it may be some sort of table linen type of fabric, but the fact that it was folded on a bolt and with the fashion fabrics, is confusing me. I still plan on using it for my "casual dress" wedding outfit, but just wanted to see if anyone had run across any of this fabric or any similar to it and if you knew any info about it. I have pictures of it that I can upload to the site when I can lay my hands on the cord that goes with my camera. Thanks for any and all assistance Debbie |

I have some linen blend (polyester I think) that sounds like that stuff. Tan pants and a black shirt. Both of them are several years old and still look great. It wears great, if it is the same stuff. Dorothy |
