Hi everyone! I've been poking around a bit the last couple of days, and figured I'd go ahead and register. :bluesmile I'm a newbie to the sewing world (other than the occasional cross-stitch project), with a new-to-me kenmore sewing machine I bought at goodwill. I've been playing around with it, learning how it works, and trying to remember my home ec class from high school! I've made some pillows and other simple things, and have recently completed a mock-up (made out of muslin) of a potential dress for my upcoming wedding, and am crazy enough to be debating making the actual thing!:nc:

I'm sure if I do, I'll be reading through these forums, for sure!

You will learn a great deal from everyone here. What part of NC are you in? I am in Pittsboro - about 24 miles southwest of Raleigh.

Yes we are certainly neighbors... I travel every day north on the 15/501 for my 9-5 job near Cole Park Plaza.. We have more than likely been in the same fabric store.

Shelia.. I work in Chapel Hill.. it is in the Chatham county side. I am certain we have been in the very same fabric shops at one time or another.

ThimblePleasures in Carrboro is a wonderful little place. We may have to have a "sew meet"

Shelia, I taught at uni there... in 2003-2004. One of the best times in my life! That is when I started sewing, too! (hand-sewing, as I couldn't exactly buy a machine and take it back to France with me!) :bluesmile

It's really amazing how close you can physically be to someone and not meet them until you are many miles away.
