I've been wanting to buy some elastic thread for a while, but haven't been able to find it. I asked at Joann's, and they said it was with the elastic, which it wasn't. They were not interested in helping me find it...
I looked at Wallyworld, but couldn't find it.

When you buy elastic thread, is it with the threads or with the elastic, or some other place?

The JoAnn's stores that I go to have it with the threads. The folks there are all very helpful and nice.

Hancock's was where I ran into non-caring, unhelpful people.

I bet JoAnn's has it online.

The one I bought was in a carded package, and I think it was on the notions wall...I don't remember which store, though. :nc:

I've bought it at both Joannes and Wallyworld. At Joannes it was with the elastics hanging on the wall in a cardboard and plastic package. I don't remember where it was exactly at Wallyworld, I think it was hanging with the notions??

I was at Hancocks today and had a very helpful person help me with interfacings. I've not been helped like that there before, she must have been new LOL!

I bought mine at Wal-mart and it was hanging on the wall up above a bin of elastic. I wasn't sure what it looked like and had to ask lol. The one I got doesn't come like a regular spool of thread, it was a long roll. Hope this helps.

OK, I now know for sure that the stuff exists, lol. I appreciate all of your help. I'm hopefully not going to either Joann's or Wallyworld to look for it (again) until next week, as I have a bunch of projects I want to finish. And of course yesterday I bought the new issue of Sew Simple, and they had the best directions I've seen yet for shirring. I can't wait to give it a try.

Many of the notions and supplies you have difficulty locating are available from tailoring/alteration supply catalogs. These are Banasch's, Atlanta Thread, Solo, Sew True, and more, if you search. These all sell to the public, and will send a catalog upon request. I know it is not the same as seeing it and buying it right now; but if you can't find it, then you can't buy it.

I never see elastic thread in the stores near me--maybe I just haven't looked in the right spots. But I have found it on the Joann.com website and bought it there.

I finally found white elastic thread. It was on the notions wall up high (much higher than me, lol) at Wallyworld. They didn't have black, but that is ok, as right now I just want to try it, I don't have a project in the works. I don't think I ever would have found it without all your help. :)

We have Dollaramas in Southern Ontario. They have a crafty aisle and I got the elastic thread there. And only a dollar. Only problem if go back to get more might not have it. But price was right. jessie s
