Today my 6 year old wanted a project with a pattern, so I made a rag doll pattern, and found an old piece of muslin to work with. When I ironed it for her (I don't think it had ever been washed - it was from someone else's stash), the corners started curling up. So we put it in some hot water with dish soap, swished it around a minute, rinesed it, and ironed it dry. It still curled, just as much as before. It was the weirdest thing. In spite of the curling, she did a great job. She cut the pattern out herself, traced it onto the muslin, and cut it out. We sewed it together on the machine, with her operating the pedal, and I still have all my fingers, and no blood was shed. The dolly's head is a little angular, but once she has some hair on, she should look pretty normal. Theresa

Can't help with the fabric question but you do know of course that this doll will now require an extensive wardrobe. Maybe there will be scraps enough for 3 wrap skirts?

Pauline, you are so right! Fortunately, she (the hairless dolly) is the right size for one of the dishsoap aprons - it makes a great sundress for her! Now my little one wants something with sleeves in case she gets cold!

It is possible that your muslin has some poly content and you ironed it on the cotton setting. I did this once and the same thing happened.
