Good Morning, I have a question regarding the proper scissors to use for trimming seams. I am left handed and have several pairs of scissors. They are all 8" or more and they seem too clumsy for close cutting. Any suggestion as to what size to buy and what they are called. My left handed scissors are made my Ghinger (love them) and I have one pair of Fiskars. I also have a pair of embroidery scissors but they seem to small for what I want. Looking forward to any suggestions or ideas. Thank You:smile:

I absolutely ADORE my Gingher 5" knife edge scissors for seams, etc. Got them recently through Pam's recommendation.

Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em.

Thanks again, Pam.

yes I have looked at those particle scissors. I wonder if they would be a problem since I am left handed as I mentioned. I just checked the gingher website and I didn't see that they offer them for south paws. Thanks again Lennie (I think we might be neighbors. )

I have a pair of Fiskars Softouch. I am also left handed, this pair of scissors work well for me. They are generic for left or right hands.

Hey, I'm still here.

Remember I asked if you were in Anza Borrego?? I'm southwest of you, San Diego county.

You know, I think these scissors would work well for a southpaw. The handles are regular ovals with no shape for fingers and one blade is straight while the other has an outside curve. I use them either way depending on what I'm doing.

They have heft and cut beautifully through many thicknesses.

Yes I do remember now. Must be old age setting in. I don't live in Borrego, Just Anza. Riverside County. I work in Warner Springs though. That is somewhat close to Borrego.
Thank you so much for the suggestion on the scissors. Next time I go shopping I will look for some. Hopefully on sale:smile:

I will check those out as well. I like Fiscars scissors also. Probably allot less money than Ginghers. Yes I agree lefties do it better:wink:

My Fiskar scissors are about 10" long and are gray with soft gripper handles that lock and are spring loaded. They are a few years old. Hope this helps.

Joann's site does show a pair of Fiskar softouch pinking shears, 10". My scissors are like those, but not pinking.

As for the 5 inch Ginghers, I don't thing they would be a problem. The fingers are more like "school scissors" but comfortable. They are not shaped like dressmaker scissors. I just really like them because they are light, thin, stay sharp and are easy to maneuver.

I too recommend the 5" Gingher Embroidery scissors.
I have had a pair for years and love them. They would be good for lefties also.
I have trouble keeping them in my sewing room. So since I am always on ebay, just found me another pair new still in package for $7.00.
I live in a small tourist town, and no big fabric shops except in Knoxville they are over an hour away and closing soon. That is why I search ebay for bargains. Also do mail order when I can find what I want.
