A while back there was a posting on making bandana clothing. I have been obsessed ever since. Everytime I go to the store I run to the bandana section to see if they have anything new. I have made a few pair of pants and yesterday I made a dress for my daughter and she loves it and wants several more in other colors. I think I found my calling. Anybody else been bitten by the bandana bug? Gina

LoL I know what you mean. I have been doing the same thing. I have even searched the web to find different types of bandana's. I do have a slight problem with the pants though. I have made my 2 year old a few pairs, but the legs seems to be really wide. I also have been doing this method with regular fabric and the same thing happens. Maybe I should try using an old pair of her pants to see if the legs would come out a little slimmer. |

They are designed to be a bit wide in the leg but my 6 yr. old is pretty slim so I have been trimming a couple inches of fabric off before I cut the crotch out. I just tried to go to Martha's webpage to get the directions for the crotch and it is not there anymore . I know I printed it out somewhere.

I have not made any for my 5 year old yet. I think all wal-mart has is the 22 inch bandana's, and the instructions I have calls for 27 inch. That just might be the reason my legs are coming out too wide lol. It says to go down 8 inches from the top and then 2 inches from the side to make the J shape. I guess for the 22 inch bandana, I would need to make some adjustments to that. |

Thought I could help by looking in my favorites for the instructions, but can't find mine either. UGH! I was hoping to try making a bandana dress, like the pillowcase dresses... |

I have been using the 22 inch bandanas. My 6 yr. old is size 4 RTW. I also made a pair for my 9 yr. old with the 22 inch. His look like shorts though and if I do them again I will adjust the crotch to make it a bit longer. Those 27 inch bandanas are a pain to find. Good luck on your hunt. Right now I am in the process of creating a shirt to match a pair of pants I made for my 6 yr. old. I like my girls to dress modestly so those halter tops are a bit much for me. I will post pictures of the finished product and if you like it I will tell you how I did it. Gina

I believe I have the same instructions, I got them from the Martha Stewart website. I printed them out but who knows where they are now lol. I made a pillowcase dress today for my daughters birthday coming up in May. I'm debating on if I want to make some bloomer type pants to go with it. I am VERY proud of myself, I was able to line the dress and to me it looks very professional. So for that I deserve a pat on the back lol. Anyways I just wanted to share that with you guys. I'll post pics soon. |

Yep Martha is where I got mine too. I found my printed copy but then I had a lightbulb moment. I just used the part I cut out from my last pair of pants as a template for this pair. The shirt I whipped up turned out beautifully. I have to find the camera and then I can get some pictures posted, maybe tomorrow. Went to Hobby Lobby and got some more bandanas today. 87 cents X 3 for a dress and X4 for a shirt and pants. Can't beat those prices. I think I am gonna use a few fat quarters next to see how well those will work. Gina
