I just received a call that my daughter is in the hospital in Ecuador. She has been there since November working with orphans. They thought she might have kidney stones but are now thinking it is a kidney infection. So any prayers for her (and the worried mother:nervous: ) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ever so much.

Oh Jay, how terrible to be so far away when I know all you want to do is take care of your dd! Sending hugs and prayers for her speedy recovery!

I'll be thinking of both of you. They should have that knocked down in no time since they know what it is.

All the best.

As one who regularly has renal colic my thoughts are with your daughter and you, Jeke. I don't know very much about Equador. I hope she has good access to strong pain killers and antibiotics. Tell her to drink and drink and drink clean water.

When is she expected home? Sometimes I think we worry less about our older children when we don't know what they are up to all the time, but when they get sick I think it is worse because information tends to get interpreted and passed on so many times. We need to remember that most things turn out better than expected. She will and so will you.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. It has been determined that Kylee has a kidney infection as well as amoebas in her stomach that are causing blood in her stools. They have had her on pain killers and antibiotics since yesterday for the infection and were starting more medicines today for the amoebas. I have talked to her several times. When I first called her she did not cry when she first heard my voice, so I figured she was doing okay!! Although she did admit that earlier in the day she probably would have. She should be able to leave the hospital tomorrow.

Thanks again for thinking of us. My hair is somewhat more gray:re:

Glad to hear she's on the mend.

Do they know what caused it?

And is she going to come home for a little while to get some pampering and chicken soup?

I'm glad that they are getting on top of it! None of this is stuff to mess around with. Tell her that if she doesn't start feeling better in a very short time to complain...she can't afford to have this go on too long. Sometimes they have to "mess" with the drugs to get the right one! I had a kidney infection when I was student teaching that went on longer than it should have because the doctor kind of blew me off...and I was young and didn't know how fast I should be getting better. It isn't any fun! My sister had the other infection believe it or not, from swimming in a swimming pool in Mexico. They were careful about everything else, didn't think about the pool!
