I've never really considered myself or my family lucky. It seems as though we have struggled a bit with health issues, etc. and we have worked very hard. Otherwise, Murphy's Law resides with us.

I now realize that we have been very lucky and in ways we may never have known.

Yesterday morning, my daughter called from Philly where she is going to school. She had gone to Center City to visit friends and around 9:30 they got hungry so they went to the corner Mom and Pop store to get some chips. They went in to the back of the store because the one friend wanted to use the ATM when they realized the store was a bit "strange." They looked at one another wondering what was wrong. They looked at the store clerk and she had a gun to her head and they had walked in on a robbery in progress.

They did nothing.... didn't go for their cell phones, didn't move or try to leave the store.

Luckily the robber took what money the clerk gave and he left......and luckily my daughter took this in stride of living in the city......and luckily I have my sewing to keep me sane.

I agree Patty...sometimes we just don't know how lucky we are until something like that happens. Then we sit back and really count the blessings. I'm glad your family was so blessed!!!!

It's a sad reality. Luckily they had the sense to just stay out of it. Glad to hear it turned out okay.

Did they talk to the police as witnesses?

Lennie, my daughter said they bought their chips and left. The store clerk called the police and they didn't come to question or anything. As my daughter said, all the individual had to do was slip into a side alley or house and they never would have been caught. Since it was a Mom/Pop kind of store there weren't any cameras.

Judy, Saturday morning my daughter was a little "cranky" on the phone; she couldn't come home for the holiday. Sunday morning, she sounded a bit euphoric...her voice projected confidence. I sensed she had been counting her blessing.

An experience like that can't help but have it's effects. Can you imagine the poor clerk? Sounds like your dd was working it through whether she knew it or not.

My impression is that if she's anything like you she's a strong girl. She's also lucky to have her mom to talk to.
