Hi Everybody:

I stumble across the sewing forum during a search and it looked so interesting that I joined. I've never belonged to a sewing forum before and don't really know what I am doing.

My name is Michele, I've been sewing forever and been doing machine embroidery for about 8 yrs. I live in Ontario Canada and operate an online Canadian based machine embroidery & sewing supply business. My store is fairly new and is called Not Just Threads at Potter's Paradise. I am also the Canadian Distributor for Admelody Threads. Admelody Threads is a relatively new line of machine embroidery thread that I am introducing to Canada.

I'm sure that I'm going to meet many talented people on this forum.

Thanks for letting me introduce myself.

Hi Everybody:

I'd just like to thank everybody for welcoming me to the group.

Brenda, I can't believe we live so close to each other. What a small world it is.

Mary, I noticed that you are from Halifax and are the owner so I'm going to ask a silly question. Is this a group that was started in Canada?

I am so glad that I found this group in a Google Search. I belong to a lot of Yahoo groups and don't even know where this group is from. Is this something from Google? I have some friends who would probably love to join, but I've got to tell them how to find this group.

Please excuse my ignorance while I'm learning the ropes.

Take Care,

Michele from Ontario :Canada:

Hi
Welcome
I am new as well. I am from Lethbridge, Alberta, originally from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.
I am interested in crafts in sewing, plastic canvas, knitting, crocheting, and now with a new serger, I want to try some projects using it. It is a Kenmore 81595.

I am getting married in 4 months and retire in 8 months and looking forward to both events.

I have learned so much already just scanning through the different areas here and look forward to hearing from some ladies
thanks

Hi Everybody:

Thanks so much for the warm welcomes. This forum is overwhelmingly large. There are so many places to venture to. This could be a bad thing for me because I'm spending more time checking out the forum than I am working.

I do have to go and get some work done or I won't have many happy customers. Talk with you all later.

Happy Stitching,

Michele

Welcome from another Canuk, Michelle and Sandra. I live just down the pike from Sherri - in a way - as least not the usual east west direction. I watched the Hour on CBC last night, first time. One of the little sidebars was nick names used in Canada, places and people. Interesting. At any rate, Canuk was first used by Americans in the early 1800 to describe French Canadian, poor souls who get called anything but Canadians!! Now apparently common usage, tho not as frequent as it used to be it seems to me.
I also have been sewing forever and look forward to hearing what you are both doing. The site has got quite big, especially lately, but I like the way it is set up so that when you see a new message you can put your cursor on the title and see what the first message leads to. We are friendly here and very helpful to each other. I love it, but like you I sometimes fear I spend so much time on the computer (no fear - do). :re: Then there is Carol who makes me feel guilty that I don't complete as much as I start!!

Mary, I also wonder how the forums got started, can you give us a brief history?

Sandra - how on earth did you get to have such a wonderful year! I have been retired, lovingly single, for 3 years. I wish I could get done all I planned. I think I day dreamed to many things up on the days I was rushed off my feet at work and raising kids!

Sandra, I live in Coaldale, small world sometimes.:dave:
For the rest of you that don't know to much about Alberta, Coaldale is a bedroom community of Lethbridge, about 10km east.

Hi Everybody:

I'm still trying to learn my way around the forum. I like the idea that I receive email telling there's been a post.

I was born in Hamilton, ON and moved out Jarvis way about 18 yrs ago. Would never go back to the city though. I love it here.

To let you know what I'm up to...my machine embroidery & sewing supply business is less than a year old and keeps be extremely busy. It's fun because of being International I talk to people from all around the world. Challenging introducing a new line of embroidery thread to Canada. It is Admelody Threads & once people try them they love them. Very good quality and I've tried all kinds in the past 8 yrs. I won't be doing any of the Needle & Craft shows this year, but plan on it next year. I think I'll put a sign up say that I belong to "Sew What's New" with hopes that I'll get to meet some members.

Learning how to digitize right now and just signed up for a course from Australia called "Digitise-Wise". It a complete course for the Generations program. Apparently it is fantastic. I'll find out soon. I'm learning how to digitize with the Generations & PEDesign programs. Hoping to get good enough to offer the designs on my website.

One of my passions is stitching out lace designs. My on going lace project is a topper for my piano. That's being done in 100% Egyptian cotton. I refuse to keep track of how many spools I'm going through at the price of good cotton. A friend of mine is stitching out lace curtains. Smart cookie...she's using Serger Thread.

Always so busy...there's never enough hours in a day.

What is everybody else doing?

Happy Stitching,

Michele:Canada:

Welcome! A year ago I told myself that I would look into embroidery after a year. Now I realize I have way too many things to learn about, and too much fun to be had learning it, so I'm not quite so anxious to get to it, but I do love to look and drool!
