I've made several pair of crocheted flip flops like these for my daughter and her friends: http://www.save-on-crafts.com/funfurflflpr.html |

Bama, those are really cute. I wish I was the type of person who could read those instructions and be able to do it. I'm a tactile/visual, and unless someone sits with me and shows me, I"m lost lost lost... Have you also put the eyelash yarn on the cuff of socks? My daugter has 2 pair of those, and she adores them! Temom - I'm with you. I read those instructions several times and still don't understand what you are doing. Anyone care to make it a little easier to understand, I would apreciate it. My daughter would love a pair!

These instructions are a little more detailed with pictures: http://www.thedietdiary.com/blog/lucia/288 I was a little confused with the first pair I tried, but it didn't take long to figure it out once I started them. I've also seen instructions for making them by just wrapping the yarn around the straps and tying them. That might be easier if you want your child to help make them. I'll see if I can find those instructions. Another cute way is by cutting strips of fabric with pinking shears or cutting strips of ribbons and tying them around the straps. You can also use balloons to tie around the straps. I kept one pair for myself to wear around the house. Hubby laughs at them every time I wear them. They're made with black and white eyelash yarn and he says it looks like fuzzy caterpillars are on my feet. |

Forgot to add.... I always got two pair done from each ball of yarn with a small amount left over. It depends on how tight you push the yarn together, but that looked like plenty of "fluff" for the ones I made. |

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I knew how to do the fleece ones, but we looped instead of tied them. They weren't as full as I would have liked, so next time we'll try that instead. I truly appreciate you doing the research, when I know that I could google for it. It's just a matter of finding the time. My daugher saw these while I was looking at these posts, so now she and I will have a simple project to work on together. I owe her a B-day party, so maybe we'll do it as a project with all the girls as a "party favor". They're better than a goodie bag anyday (or so she says)! Peggy

Something fun to try.... I made may daughter a much-loved pair of "balloon shoes" by tying balloons onto a pair of flip flops. She wore them until they literally fell apart. Be sure and use the water balloons though. I can't remember exactly why that was recommended to me, but I think it had to do with their durability. HTH! Katie |

Peggy, You're welcome. That would be a wonderful project for a girl's birthday party. My daughter is 15 now and we haven't done the slumber party crafts with her friends in a while. *sigh*. I miss that. Katie, Thanks for the tip about the water balloons. Maybe they are more stretchy. Anyone remember the hair barrettes made from balloons? Those were popular years ago. |

I should also add to prepare your fingers for the smell of latex and blisters. LOL! |
