Okay, not sure if I should put this here or under sewing. Anyway, I have been making scrunchies using my serger. However, the inside "hairband" keeps breaking after a few uses. I am using the ones with the metal piece and various colors on the band that I picked up from the store. Am I using the wrong size? Is one brand better than another? I want to mass produce these for an upcoming fundraiser, but want them to hold up to a few wears by the person wearing them. If you've made these before, what did you use? How did you keep the inside band from breaking? Thanks! Peggy

I made some when my daughter was little. I used a thin elastic and just knotted it on the inside. I don't remember one ever breaking and dd has very thick hair. |

I make mine with elastic too, only I sew mine together just like you would for an elastic waistband.

Rubber bands dry out and break very easily, elastic is better. |

When I made them I used actual pony tail elastic things. I bought a bundle of them at the dollar store and they worked fine. Violet I've decided to live forever - so far, so good.
