Okay, be brutally honest.... LOL It was my first time shirring... :) I drafted the pattern myself... but not much to draft if you know what I mean :) I didn't have enough purple fabric left to do the ruffle around the pants :( LOL But she does have a headband coming. ;) I haven't shirred it yet but it is done. :)

What do you guys think? I was going to leave it without straps but that just didn't work for her....so the straps were a last minute add on. :)

Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I loved the shirring! LMBO I just made another one last night for my other dd! :) LOL I didn't have a chance to snap a pic of her... LOL :) I love watching the fabric shrink up when you steam it! I am going to be making some headbands with the shirring method instead of elastic! WOot!!!! :) Thanks again guys! :)

It looks great. I tried the shirring but it wasnt tight enough. I hand wound several bobbins and after the 3rd broken bobbin I decided I was winding to tight. Then The shirring was not as tight as the one in the store.

Catherine-I was able to use my machine to wind in order to get the tightness needed on the bobbin. After you sew it, it won't look as tight as the ones in the store. You are 100 percent right :) You have to steam it with your iron or with a steamer. The fabric magicly shrinks before your eyes! Try it one more time, I promise you will love it! :) If you have any questions feel free to ask. :) Also, if you want really tight shirring, put your machine on the longest stitch length. On Zoe's I used a 3 because I didn't know better. On Kammies I just made last night I used a 6 and it actually scrunchied as I was sewing (a little bit anyway). Then the steam really shrank it up. :) Give it a go and let me know :)
