There are so many. You could spend hours by just typing in free embroidery designs in google and searching.
Try this to start: http://www.freepes.com/ it has a new design every day. Also, this site could keep you busy for days working through the alphabet. http://www.freeembroiderystuff.com/stockdesigns/other_designs.asp
Have fun. Deb

Sew Forum has a lot of links to websites.

I've tried to post this three times and in getting my links, I've managed to wipe my message out three times. Fortunately, many people are more computer saavy than I and they have posted some of the obvious links I was going to give...like Sew Forum, EL, Secrets of...so I'll give a few more. Embroidery LIbrary has some good deals that they offer weekly...you'll become additced! They give new designs each month, have a birthday club...be SURE and sign up, they have great $1 and 17 cent designs and they have contests that have free designs as a prize..check it out.

You are in luck because your format is one of the most used out there...so almost everyone will offer freebies in your format! Of course, when you pick up some software, there will be NO limits!

The Babylock site will have a few. One of the best out there is the Brother site.

http://www.brother-usa.com/HomeSewing/GetCreative/free-designs.aspx

Hatchedinafrica.com has some lovely freebies posted and they have more hidden in their design packs.

If you join this site's yahoo group (instructions given) they have lovely freebies which they add to each week...
http://www.skeldalehouse.com/

Great Notions has just started an alphabet as of last week all their letters are up right now..so if you register there you can get free letters that will progress throught he alphabet.

There are a few nice designs here...(her work is lovely)

There are tons of great sites for designs. In time you'll learn to download only those you think you'll be able to use because there are just so many out there. For the most part, the designs are meant to generate interest in the site and give you an example of the quality of their work.

DO NOT SHARE YOUR DESIGNS WITH ANYONE and DO NOT ACCEPT FREE DESIGNS FROM ANYONE, no matter how generous they are! Always send the other person to the site to download themselves as anything else is illegal. It is important!

Be sure and read all the copywrite information on the site at the time of download as it is binding. Many of the downloads CANNOT be sewn out and SOLD, whether the designs are free or purchased. To do so can be a copywrite violation.

Some designs cannot legally have their colors or sizes changed nor can they be split so that a portion of the design is used some place else.

Many designs may not be mixed with designs from some other site.

Until you get used to the rules, my recommendation is to stay away from EBAY! There are many illegal designs on EBay, those that have been stolen from sites and design cards, etc. People will sell them as their own designs and then when it is discovered, the person who purchases the design can be in legal trouble. It isn't worth it. Be especailly leary of ANYONE, ANYWHERE who will sell large quantites of designs for low prices...the exception would be if it were a well know, reputable company, for instance Great NOtions, Dakota Collectables, OESD each sometimes offer good deals on quantitative design collections, but the prices for those good deals are still a lot of money. It is easy to get caught up in the moment when you find a good deal on designs...be careful. I just can't emphasize that enough. There are serious penalties for the wrong purchases!

A lot of designers offer a free sample from several collections. Sue Box (http://www.suebox.com) does and they are wonderful designs. Some are on the home page but most are at the bottom of each collection.

If you are looking for something different check out
www.pams3ddesigns.com

The designs aren't free, but they are reasonably priced. They are also lots of fun to do. These are flowers that are embroidered out flat, and cut apart and put together to use in floral arrangements, or many other projects. My favorite is the confederate rose.
