Hot Flashes

It’s 2 AM,
I’m sweating bullets,
My husband thinks I’m crazy,
As I question which is finer
A Daffodil or Daisy?

And then
Without a bit of warning
I begin to shiver and shake
He thinks it is a Cardinal sin
When all the blankets I take.

It’s 6 AM
The sky is Amber
My husband is quite lazy
I look outside and see the Snow
I know I must be crazy

So then
With my thoughts on nothing else,
I pick up my hoe and my rake
I begin to clear the snow away
before my husband does wake

It’s 8 AM
I’m sweating bullets,
My husband, :re: Patrick Swayze?
He struts his stuff like a Peacock
And calls me Crazy Daisy

But then
He looks, around in wonder
And begins to quiver and quake
For, in that soil, all rich and Black
The daffodils come awake.

So Gina, since I already have my Kona cotton.......you are definitely going to do a beaches theme in June (and things that swim in the water)...

Sorry, but I just want to be prepared if I see some great beach fabric :)

Yep. We are going to the Beach in June. Gonna be a very wide open theme like the garden one. Pretty much if it makes you think of the beach then you can swap it.

Love your poem Gina! I have to pass on this swap:sad: . I'll be gone to DC with 90 (yes,90 ) eighth graders for nearly a week the beginning of May and school ends May 25 which is always very stressful :whacky: and joyful. In there somewhere is also a two day event that I am helping with to provide quilts, hygiene kits, school kits, friendship kits etc to service organizations in our area. Plus I am doing mints (500 -1000:nervous: ) for a wedding of the daughter of a dear friend. I am hoping to live through it all so I can take part in the June beach swap:bg:

Yep, Paula I got it. I just finished typing my reply.

Vickki, Kona is made by Kaufman. It is not your standard cotton fabric. It definately has a certain feel to it. If you go read the info in Patty's Hot Block Swap you will see a link to a site that carries it.

Jeke and Karebear, I am glad you enjoyed my poem. My kids love my spur of the moment poetry. This is the first one I have written down since I was in high school.

Kona cotton is on sale at JoAnns this week for $1.99 yd.
I almost wish I was participating it sounds like fun but I just don't need anymore small pieces of fabric. I actually don't NEED any more fabric but need isn't always why things are done. Maybe if there is a summer swap & I am not TOO busy with grandkids I will join.

www.fabricshack.com

under search put put in "kona cotton cardinal" or whatever color you want. It is 3.99 a yard. I know there is shipping, etc., but this is a really good website and if you email them with questions, they respond very quickly.

I checked the website for JoAnn and the kona fabric online is the same price and it is not on sale online. I think it depends what JoAnn's you shop at where they carry Kona and you can get it at the sale price.

Good luck with finding the fabric.

KittyKat, I received your FQ today in the mail along with a Quilting Book that I bought on Ebay!!!!!
I love the peacock color of the FQ, hopefully I will be able to come up with a block for the Hot Block Swap and use some of it in them!!!!

YEAH!!! I recieved two squishy packages today.
One from kitty kat and one from shaysmema.

Thank you ladies. I really like that color. I may have to use a lot of it in the Hot Block Swap or maybe I'll use just a little and keep the peacock for putting my blocks together.

I'll get my packages in the mail this week. I spent Saturday at the Ga. Renfest and yesterday recouperating from Sat.

I mailed my packages this morning. I am so sorry to be late mailing!!!:nervous: Please don't ban me from the board. I had to wait on more fabric. I thought I had ordered extra of one color but when I started cutting it this week I realized I didnt' have enough of it. But Fabric Shack came thru and I received my fabric yesterday. So I stuffed the envelops last night and went to the post office this morning. Since the packages I have received have had various postages on them I wanted to be sure I put enough. They are in the mail now and should be to everyone by the 30th. Of course with Monday being a holiday it may be the 31st. Again, I'm sorry I am late sending.

I have received from:
Donna
Terry
Susan
Naomi
Barbara
Patricia
Thank you all. :bg:

OK I sent them. Sticker shock! Price went up. They got a new machine downtown that is very, very picky and doesn't like squishy envelopes. So they charge more for not being able to send it through the machine:cry: . Oh well life goes on.
