Hello does anyone know anything about the 38" Clamp on Magnifying Craft Lamp Light? I redisigned my sewing room and I am in need of some new lighting. Any help would be appreciated.

What I like the best & have are the Ott Lights. They are like natural light & show the true colors of everything. Easy on your eyes as well. I have 3 of them. A desk lamp at my computer desk, A floor lamp beside one of my sergers & one with the magnafier attached at one of my machines. |

Your welcome. Forgot to tell you, for sewing don't get anything less than the 18 watt bulbs. They give lots of good light. There are higher wattage but I haven't tried those. The 13 watt aren't strong enough for sewing with the machine but are fine for a desk. At least that's how I feel. Whatever lamp you buy you stay with that size wattage bulbs. As far as I know they aren't interchangeable. I watched for sales or 50% coupons to get mine. Jo Ann's sells them plus some office supply stores, catalogs & sure other sewing places. Good lighting is a must in my book plus ones that give you true colors. We only have one set of eyes & I plan to take care of mine. |

I like Ott-lights, but they can be expensive even with the sales at Joann. A less expensive alternative that I think is just as good is to use a compact flourescent "daylight" bulb. These are much cheaper than Ott-lights and work just as well in my opinion (as long as you get the daylight/full-spectrum version). They can be used in any lamp or fixture that uses a standard light bulb. I have one in a regular desk lamp and it works great! ~Katie |

Those are good. I have them in the lamps in the living room where my DH reads or if I'm in there doing some hand embroidery or such. I also have 5ft of the daylight bulbs installed on above a window in the sewing room that makes the whole room like day light at night or a cloudy day. They aren't bare bulbs but have a curved cover over the 4 of them. They are super. I'm not bragging & we aren't wealthy by any means & I didn't get this all at once. Kids are raised & doing good so we can splurge some on what we want or need at times. For years I sewed at the kitchen table & stored my supplies where ever I found a space. I still watch the pennies. |
