My daughter wants me to make her a hippie dress and I can't find a pattern. The bottom of the dress is patchwork and the bodice is corduroy with an applique on it....skinny straps and the back has a section of lace up ties. I don't know how to insert a link here but they have them on ebay. If you type in hippie patchwork dress, you'll see the kind I mean. It looks like fun to make so I hope someone out there knows where I can get a pattern. Thanks in advance!! ~Becky |

I know the style of dress you are looking for, but I haven't seen any exact patterns around. I think you may have to alter and existing pattern to suit. I would use something along the lines of McCall's M3959 or M4766. It needs to have the separate panels in the back piece. Then all I would do is make the side panels in a larger size than required to allow for the slight folding, and put the lace up parts in the back seams. McCall's M4709 shows the lacing and "eyelets". Sorry I can't help you much more than that. Let me know if you do find a pattern, as I would be interested in one myself. Cheers, Soph.

Sorry - I had the wrong designs in mind. That should be pretty easy to make. Just find a pattern for a 12-16 gore skirt and then add a straight bodice, and a couple of loops for the laces. I have made similar one for my daughter. Have fun, and post some pics when you have finished. Cheers, Soph.
