Hi! I have been sewing off and on since I was a young girl. I have always enjoyed the quiet solitude of sewing. I am a school teacher so I am looking forward to spending my summer relaxing and sewing some cute little skirts and a few pillows for my cats. I live in a downtown Chicago high rise so my space is limited but I think I'll manage. I look forward to sharing ideas with all of you.

Hi GG,

I'm so glad you've found us. There is a wealth of knowledge here and I'm sure you'll be able to contribute as well.

Got to be careful your skirts aren't too full, I'd imagine. You do live in the "windy city".

Hi ggbean and welcome.

Look forward to hearing more about what you're up to.

I had a brief moment when I read your post and thought that you were making skirts for your cats but I was still laughing from one of the other threads here. It's a fun place to come and lots of help if you need it.

I thought the same thing but was too polite to mention it, Pauline!

I think you're just jealous since you have boy cats and they refuse to wear skirts..........:whacky:

Welcome ggbean. I know what you mean about limited space in high rise condos. I lived at Sanburg Village for five years but I had my sewing machine, etc. in my bedroom. I now have a, albeit small -- 11-1/2 x 10 - bedroom as my sewing room where I can at least leave everything up. Anyhow, I'm sure you'll manage quite well in finding the space you need to sew/quilt.

One of mine probably would Lennie. Drats - now I'll have to go and see. As if I didn't have enough sewing to do already.

No - not in the slightest bit bothered. He's so laid back he could fall asleep standing up. I'm not saying he liked it - just that he didn't even notice. Good thing he's not a fashion prima donna - got enough of those here already.

BTW I didn't happen to have a skirt lying around that fit him - I just used one of dd's headscarves that is circular and kind of stretchy with a bandana coming down - really it looked more like a saddle.

Hi ggbean, and welcome. This is a friendly group of people (and sometimes a bit silly, but that is why I enjoy them so much...) Feel free to jump in anywhere.

Hey I resemble that remark! Silly.....

We're just trying to make GG feel comfortable.

And yes, Pauline, it did sound like you had cat skirts just laying around the house.........No wonder you have so much ironing!!!!
