Mary, I wanted to let you know that I tried your one-piece, no-seam skirt pattern that you posted not too long ago...It was super easy and didn't look too bad...I rarely sew for myself b/c I'm so picky and my middle-aged figure usually doesn't conform to patterns...I just need to tweak it a little so that the small amount of gathering is not concentrated on the hips ..maybe to the back?? In fact, I saw a pretty piece of flowy suede that was on sale...I'll make a good skirt for only $10.00...Thanks for that pattern...Paula

I made this skirt for my granddaughter and I really loved it. (The material is the kind that comes out of the drier ready to wear) BUT, she won't wear it because she says the waistband is too hard and it's uncomfortable. I used Pellon Waist Shaper and I must admit that it is a bit on the firm side. Would it work if I simply turned the upper edge down and put elastic in it? Since all of you ladies who have made this don't seem to have an issue with the interfacing can I ask what type you are using. Maybe I simply picked the wrong kind.

I used something in my stash that must be a hundred years old..it had shape but was not too stiff...Last time I was in JoAnn's I picked up something called Jiffy Waistband and Ban-Rol..It is fusible..have not used it yet; but does not feel stiff..

I used the Pellon Waist Shaper. I don't know if they only have one kind or many. On the bottom left hand corner of my package it reads "Style #SA601"

The Pellon Waist shaper, Style

The Pellon Style SA601 is what I used. Out of the package it felt much softer than the Dritz Waist Shaper, but granddaughter claims it's far too uncomfortable for her, and since she does love the skirt and adores the fabric I'd like to find a solution. She's 14 and quite reluctant to wear homemade clothes, so this one is a challenge. I'll work on a solution today, but if anyone has an idea - please let me hear it. Thank you!

I "fixed" this to her liking with a little elastic in the facing and Velcro for closing. She's satisfied and says she'll wear it to the Y as a coverup.

Great Idea.
I have some $! yd. sheer fabric and I would love a wrap around cover up for the pool. Think I will give it a try. I wanted to try the wrap skirt on in-expensive fabric before I put my real money into it. I am a bit chunky bilt and not sure what style works.

Good luck trying to please a 14yr old girl with clothes. I am trying to please a 12 yr old girl and she says she likes what I maake but then I do not see her wearing what I make. The 6 yr old is the same way.

Too funny! :bg:

When you ladies finish your skirts, if possible will you post pictures. I've read through the instructions and could not for the life of me conjure up a mental picture of the finished garment. If it is as easy as you've said, I would like to make one with my 13 year old.....she'll wear it because she'll be doing the sewing.

Here is a link to a discussion we had a little while ago regarding this, and a few of us have posted pictures or picture links.

Thanks so much temom. The pictures are perfect. I remember seeing your skirt and thinking it was a purchased skort pattern (duh, the photo only says spring wrap skirt :re:). I can be so blind sometimes and I don't know how I missed that thread. Thanks again!

Miss TaraTara, I did have a purchased skort pattern for my daughter (the yellow butterfly fabric), so you haven't lost your mind yet!
