I have a babylock ellageo that I bought last fall. Store went out of business shortly thereafter. I never got my training. I've contacted the company several times and they say its my problem since each dealer is independent. Instead of helping they just keep offering to sell me more stuff.

I've been taking classes at a Viking dealer and learning to use their machines so I can use my own.

I can't even clean the machine because I don't know how. I've tried taking classes at another dealer and have even offered to pay for a private class but they just blow me off.

I'll never buy another babylock.

Any suggestions?

Hi there I couldn't help but notice your screen name. My maiden name is Worrell. My dad's family are from N. Carolina. Worrell is not a common name.

Why not contact their site or head office in your state. You deserve better treatment than that.

You've obviously run into an unfortunate situation, but I suspect it is solvable. Of all the SM distributors today, Tacony has consistently been one of the best for customer service, but when something like this happens, it would be hard to convince the person who is on the receiving end. The reason that it has happened are twofold. First, the "way the book is written", the selling dealer is totally responsible for educating their own customers. Most feel very strongly about this, because the reverse situation would be where everyone would buy from the dealer who had the cheapest prices and want service/instruction from the dealer who has to charge a little more in order to do a good job. Second, you have run into a person(s?) who can't quite grasp that there are times when the "book does not apply," and they need to find a solution. Somewhere up above this person at Tacony, I assure you is a person who understands this, and your course is to politely but firmly keep insisting to talk to a higher level, right up to the president of the company if necessary, until you find that person.

Margaret Tully is the SE area sewing educator for Babylock. I have found her to be very friendly and helpful. You might try google her and maybe she will be able to help or refer you to someone for lessons. I don't own a Babylock but she has always been great in classes that I took.

Thanks for the hint on Tacony. I couldn't get past the babylock website. I'll try this one.

Have you looked in manuals for cleaning instructions? You'll need their manuals no matter who solves your problem...I often use my manual a couple times a week PL

Hi Worrella,
Am not sure what part of Alabama that you live in but on June 7-9 there is a sewing retreat in Nashville and Margaret Tully, the Babylock educator, will be there. The cost is $200 for this 3 day retreat. You can email me privately for more info on it.
