http://quiltsatcs.blogspot.com/search?q=disappearing-9-patch

Awhile ago, someone, somewhere was inquiring about the disappearing nine-patch pattern. In my infinite wisdom (much sarcasm there) I suggested that maybe the nine-patch would get lost with the setting blocks.

WAS I EVER WRONG  Seems you make a nine patch and cut it up to make a new design; very cool though.

So to whoever was looking for this pattern, when I saw it on another quilting forum, I had to post it here.

I downloaded this the other day - I LOVE it. Can't wait to try it. I think I'll make a small one for my kitty's new tent.

Neat idea to use up some scraps! I'll add that to my to do list for my retirement! :bg: (that's probably when I will get time to try it!).

Me and you both Judee! My retirement is only 3-1/2 months away now depending on how much time I have to have off for my pending back surgery. I can hardly wait!!! I have so many projects that I want to work on that I won't know which one to do first.

( singing) only women bleed......must get some better pins!

I only get a chance to sew about once a week - so it is slow progress. I am starting to do some 'creative' machine quilting in some of the blocks as opposed to all the stitch in the ditch that has been going on.

You go girl and when you are finished with your Asian quilt, I will ship (ummm let's see) possibly the 3 quilts that I have sandwiched across the "pond" to you and let you free motion quilt them.

Somewhere very recently I came across a detailed description of how to make this block. Thought it was on this site but can't find it. I know what it looks like and could duplicate it but I think there was a quick cutting method. Does anybody have the details ?

http://pelkovitch.photosite.com/Album3/nine_patch.html

Our local quilt shop is doing something with charm squares and I made up this quilt to show what can be done with a pack of 40 charm squares. The particular pack I had was the Moda Coming Home.

I cut each 5" charm into quarters and added 2 1/2" white squares to create a nine-patch. If you were using all different charms for the quilt in florals, I could see having some kind of floral applique in the corner.

It works up really quick and makes a 42 1/2" square quilt which is great for a baby quilt.
