Hello all...finally finished my dress last week and to say the least - YUCK!

I don't know if it is material that is the problem for me....maybe I just don't know enough about picking out material. Seems a little to light weight maybe that adds to the tent look that I have achieved.

On the bright side I really did well on the neckline... I would say I have learned something from the project.

So now I am looking forward to a new project.....I have some lovely new rags for my husband and am thinking of a summer project - maybe something for the house..?

What are you all working on out there?

Hey, tent dresses were all the rage years ago!

I'm working on a tunic top to go with the capri's I just finished.

KATMOM, great to hear you learned a few new things along the way and are happy with the neckline results. I have plenty of whoa-oh-my projects that I will never wear or complete. They're worth plenty.

I'm working on a bias dress, and I am working on cutting it out just so b/c I'm using a plaid and I want the seams to look good.

I'm making a sleeveless top from that Simplicity 4076 that someone suggested just before my computer died.. I started it from an old piece of knit that I had just to see how it worked.. The twisted front thing intrigued me no end... I am going to make one just like that pretty blue one someone on here pictured.. I love the way that looks with the wrap look. I hope mine will turn out to be that pretty.. I have a print with little tiny butterflies on it.. I love that pattern.. Specially whe I get a bargain like that.. 99 cents at Hancocks on sale..

Well - your all inspiring me to start a new project. Even though my dress/tent did not turn out well. I haven't decided yet what but.....I am on the look for something fun. Something that is not a dress.:re:

It's good to hear from all of you.....

Have a great day!!

Sorry to hear your dress didn't turn out as you had hoped -- that's one of the things that keeps me from starting new clothing projects. I'm just not sure what style and what fabrics will look good on me, and I'm afraid to make something that I ultimately won't be able to wear! But I should just get over it and try some new things. It's not really time wasted, since you always learn something new!

Right now I've got to get to work on mother's day presents for my mom and sister (her first mother's day as a mom!) -- I'm making denim crusher/fisherman's hats for them. My serger just got back from the shop -- apparently I blew a thermal fuse, but thankfully it's still under warranty, so I'm all ready to do some stitching! :bluesmile

If I can leave a suggestion about projects that don't work out for you, the members of my sewing guild take these garments, finish them and donate to women's shelters. Just because you can't use them doesn't mean someone else wouldn't be happy with it.

Maybe if you are happy with the neck, you could cut it off for a top and wear it with pants.
