I'm getting married soon and my soon to be husband and I disagree (considerably) on who should get a gift from us on our wedding day. He says no one needs anything... I think that my parents, his parents, groomsmen, bridesmaids, flower girl, ring bearer, anyone in the wedding should get something.

I don't think it needs to be huge, just something as a token of appreciation.

What do you think?

I don't think the parents need to get a gift...getting rid of you is gift enough!

I think it is customary to thank the members of the wedding party with small gifts.
Take care,
Donna

I have never heard of parents getting a gift.

It is usually just the wedding party but if you want to do something for everyone why not take them all to dinner. You could present that to your other half as not even being a gift. Two birds with one stone. I'd probably still get something for the little ones in the wedding party though - they're unlikely to appreciate a dinner as much as a small gift.

We got gifts for our attendants, but nothing for our parents. My sister didn't get our parents anything when she got married either..so, who knows. I would have liked to get them something, but in the end all I could think of was something silly like a gift card, so I didn't get them anything. I guess in a way our gift was them not having to pay for the wedding. :bg:

I have just got married.
Our friends (roger and chris) were the witnesses, Roger gave me away, we bought them a little gift just to say thank you for being there for us. After the wedding, i sent thank you notes to most of the guests.

I am thinking of getting my future in-laws something small--like a plaque or something to sit on the shelf.. Just something to say thanks that they can keep in their house that won't take up too much space..

Any ideas on what that could be?

You could get an engraved picture frame -- chances are they'll want to display a wedding picture of yours anyway, so that might be nice.
