Anyone have this combo? I have been researching midarm machines and was told today and it seems that by the reviews that this is the perfect machine combo. Anyone know about these machines, good and bad? Hubby is going to buy me one but I want to be sure I'm getting my best for my bucks.

My wife has the Hinterberg Stretch Frame with a Nolting Funquilter. She has had no problems with the Hinterberg frame except that the holes drilled in the wooden frame for adjustment pegs are beginning to become loose and occasionally, a pin falls out while she is quilting. When it becomes a serious problem, I will drill out the holes and install some kind of nylon bushing. As for the Voyager 17, the throat space is 17" long, but only 5" high. You will not be able to get any more quilt rolled up in the throat than on a family machine because you will be limited by the 5" height. Another factor is the weight - being a modified industrial machine, the Voyager 17 weighs 70 lbs. How long can you swing a 70-lb weight around before your arms give out? The Funquilter is made from bottom up to be a quilting machine and contains many lightweight parts, making it weigh 35 lbs. The Funquilter throat is 17" long (same as the Voyager) but 8" high, allowing a much larger roll in the throat area. There is a significant cost difference between the Voyager and the Funquilter, but other manufacturers might have similar machines at lower prices. I use the Funquilter in my illustration only because it is the only quilting machine I have first-hand knowledge of. Ed |

Thanks for heads up Ed I didn't realize that about the 5"'s I guess I better experiment more with this before I make a final decision. Thanks for you input.

Well I leave for Houston in the morning to get my voyager quilting machine and Hintenberg frame. I'm so excited. My husband is going to have to sit on me all the way there it's a 5½ hour ride. I'll be back on Monday to let you know how wonderful it is.

Susie...please let us know all about it. I've been looking and googling mid-arm machines and frames. Haven't actually been able to try one as they are not that plentiful here in . But I'm planning a trip to the Vermont Quilt show the June 29th weekend and am hoping to see some demos there...and maybe even get one if I like one!

Judee, I'm so tickled I need to go to bed but I'm all wound up. Here is the site where you can go to read all about the machine and what people are saying about this machine. It's a 17" midarm machine that Hinterberg put Voyager on it but it's really a Singer machine. Singer makes the machine I think is how it goes. Anyway, the price is very good. As of June 1st it went up to 2400.00 USD and the frame is 899.00 USD. I'm getting an extra set of handles to use when I want to use the stylus or pantogram with the lasor that comes with it. I'm also getting a bobbin winder and some other little things and it's all coming up to 3365.00 USD's. I am hearing nothing but good reviews from people who have them on my Yahoo group that is for that machine and frame. This is the machine http://www.hinterberg.com/sewingmachine.htm And this is the frame http://www.hinterberg.com/stretch.htm I;ll let you know who I like it when I get it set up. I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

After a Fast weekend trip to Houston (5½hours one way) we got back late last night, got up this morning headed to Walmart to get all the goodies I needed to set my things up, then my husband came home and we started working on getting it set up. We're still not finished but he had to go to bed he was tired poor fellow. All that left is putting on the leaders and leveling it. I had to leave the adjustable legs off because I'm so short I was having to reach up and steer with them on now I can just relax and go. My second set of handles didn't come in so I have to wait on them but I can play as soon as he gets it leveled. YAHHHHOOOOOOOOOO HERE IT IS!!! Take a look!! http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l235/Mawmaw26/MVC-003L-1.jpg I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

Susie, that was quite a trip. But it's looking good! Was it hard to setup? You'll probably think I'm strange...at first when I glanced quickly at the pic, the machine reminded me of a bull with it's horns down ready to charge. Guess it's waiting to charge a bunch of quilts!!! LOL

It came from Texas I guess it could be a bull. It didn't come from Texas the quilt place I bought it from is in Houston, Tx. LOL It wasn't that hard setting up except for the fact that I'm so short we tired to leave the extension legs off and couldn't because it wouldn't level right without them so my husband had to cut the extension legs to make it work for my height. Other than that it wasn't hard at all. We got a DVD with it showing how to set it up and load a quilt. The price was well worth the trip to Houston.
