walmart is discontinueing there fabric sections. this is horrible as I find a lot of cute fabric there a fratcion of the price as many fabric stores. please flood the call center with calls to keep the fabric department. Please let walmoart know this is a mistake to do away with there fabric section. here is the corprate number- (1-800-925-6278). If we don't speak up it will be phased out thanks for all the support |

HI Pookie, I'll tell you something. This has been an interminable subject here on SWN. I know you're new so you don't know. Check "Search" and you'll see that we've discussed this over many months, had letter writing campaigns, etc. There are many on the board that are very concerned, many that are only a little concerned (me) and many that don't care at all. It'd be worth your while to look over those posts on the subject and you can see what happened there. Thanks for your good intentions, Lennie |

tks I was a bit disturbed when I saw all the walmart fabric GONE! I care because a lot of fabric or simple sewing things I can get there which is way closer to me and a whole lot cheaper... I will look up the other post thanks.. pookie |

I have two Walmarts within a 15 mile radius. Spoke to the Fabric Dept Manager in one, who told me that it's the older stores that are phasing out fabric and since hers was only 3 years old, her Department will be there for at least 3 more years. Her $1.00 and $2.00 tables are so loaded it's hard to drag what you want out of there.I only get there once a month or so, but certainly load up when I go and then hit Joanns on my way home. Perfect!! |

I am on the "hardly care" list. I dislike Walmart and their practices and I am loathe to support them with my dollars. I also find their fabrics low-quality and of course their staff know very little about sewing. That said, Walmart is the ONLY fabric shop in my area, this part of the county even, except for a tiny quilt shop that is sometimes open and often not. I can see why people would grieve for W's loss of fabric. Perhaps there is some lemonade to be made of this. I try to use the lack of easily-available fabric to plan more intentional projects. I also try out online shops, many of which have great prices and great selection (I have like Denver Fabrics, Wazoodle, and plan to try Reprodepot). I have also got a few yards at Etsy to make a quilt for my son. And of course I give glowing compliments and thanks to those lovely fabric shops still open to me. Here's hoping all who've relied on Walmart find fun new sources for their creative fire! see the mundane life of a housewife.
