A while back I posted a desire to learn about home embroidery machines. I am still looking. I guess my main questions should be has anyone used the Brother 270D? How easy is it to learn? I need to get something that is not very expensive, easy to learn and won't cost an arm and a leg to replace, should I break it. I would love to be able to embroider 5x7 inch areas. I am mostly interested in letters than characters. Thanks in advance for your helpful information.

Hi Sandra, I'm not that familiar with that machine but I think that machine only does 4 X 4. I'm not sure. Do a google search on that machine and see if you can find a forum on Yahoo that has this machine and you can get opinions of other who have that machine. The best thing is to get the biggest you can afford because we tend to out grow these machines as we get more and more involved with them My first machine was a Brother PE150 and after about 4 months I got a bigger one and after a year I got an even bigger one. It's addictive.
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.

The only embroidery machine that I know about that has a 4x4 and a 5x7 stitching area that doesn't cost several thousand dollars is the Singer Futura Quantum CE100 or CE200. The 100 without the autopunch runs around $599 and the 200 runs about $799. However, you do have to have a dedicated computer to use the Futura machines as they have no computer of their own. They work strictly off a PC.

Thanks for the help ladies. I spoke with a local vendor yesterday, and he suggested I look into the Singer CE100 also. I think that I am going to take a test run this weekend because I really, really, really want to develop and use this new skill. I'll be back to see what others have to say regarding this new adventure. Keep the comments and suggestions coming, ladies. I need the help.

I have this machine for sale for $1,900.00.
Has manual, four sizes of frames, all original accessories and I'll throw in some Brother cards. Will accept Pay Pal only.
Machine in excellent shape. I have upgraded to an Innovis 4000D. Only saw three for sale on E-Bay with higher reserve prices. If anyone is interested, I can e-mail the specifics I copied from the Brother site.
