I have a piece of elastic that I have had for years that I keep hanging with my skirts. I put it around my waist whenever I wear a blouse that tends to slip out. The elastic is a type of waist band elastic which has small loops of exposed rubber on one side. Long ago I sewed a hook and loop on the ends. :re:

Does anyone know what this elastic is called or where I can get some or something like it? I am making some chemo hats and will put some around the band as the person I am making them for complains about her hats slipping (no hair to hang onto).

I know what you are describing, and I do not know what the proper name for it is.. I know one brand name though, and that is Ban-Rol.. You see men's trousers advertised with that in the waistband.. Come to think of it, I have not seen any of this notion for sale in 10 or more years.. My ex-H used to have me insert small strips in his trousers on the sides.. He had small waist and large shoulders, so he made a pleat at the waist of his shirt tails and then used those small strips of 'ban-rol' to keep the pleat very neat looking..

These people carry a lot of elastic and they frequently have things that are not posted on their site. Now that you know the exact name of what you need you could call them and ask if they have it.

Thanks for the info. I don't think it is called Ban roll as I have some ban roll and the elastic is not exposed. The elastic is rows of verticle pillars of elastic (?). Anyone else know another name? That site is very interesting. I will return as I like doll making - at least will try in future.

I don't know what the material is called but I recently bought my dh a couple pairs of dress pants with that in the waistband. He really likes it inside his dress pants as he says it keeps them from sliding down (he has somewhat of a front paunch) and keeps his shirt in his pants. I don't run across those dress pants very often but when I do, I buy him a couple of pairs at a time. The elastic is a heavy ribbed elastic but I don't know what the brand name would be.

I think I had a case of 'mental pause' there, when I said Ban-rol.. I was confusing Haggar Slacks ad with the fabric hugging elastic.. Sorry about that!!

Nancy, would clear elastic be effective in this instance.
