Hi everyone, I've been getting the newsletters for some time and decided it was time to sign up and participate in the discussions. I've been sewing since the age of 13 and quilting since the late 1970s. I mostly quilt these days and at any given time have several projects going. We've turned a former bedroom in my quilting emporium so I'm fortunate to be able to keep projects out that I'm working on and shut the door to the mess. I have a Bernina 185E, Viking serger, and a Janome Jem Gold that I take back and forth to quilt classes. I'm 53 and married with 3 adult children and 2 grandchildren (ages 3 and nearly 2). Besides sewing and quilting my hobbies include beading, lampwork, gardening and music (piano). Like others have expressed on this site, one of the sewing-related problems that I'd like to improve is pattern fitting. The problem with poor fitting patterns and my inability to figure out how to fix them is the reason that I don't sewing clothing for myself these days. I'm excited meet you all and share in the conversations. Terry |

Hi Terry, Welcome to the group. There is lots to talk about and I enjoy meeting everyone. Fitting is something all of us find challenging. I'm a sewing book collector and have quite a few on fitting. My favorite is "Fit for Real People". The book addresses the problems we encounter and how to solve the problem (ie: large upper arms, no waist, bulging tummy, etc). Hope to see more of you on the discussions. Marty |

Hi Terry, and welcome. You have quite a machine collection! I also garden, unfortunately I garden about the same as I sew, but I'm ever the optimist! (I'm a newbie to the sewing world).
