I am working on a blouse (Butterick 3389) that is interfaced and lined. It has no facings. I am using a light weight fabric and I am not sure what type of interfacing to use and how to handle the seams. The instructions call for fusible interfacing, but I wonder if a sew-in is better. And, what do I do about the seams: press them open, serge? I don't have a clue:nc:

I'd use fusiknit even if the fashion fabric isn't a knit.
But be sure it is going to stay put and not bubble before you use any fusible. What kind of fabric is it? There are some synthetics that the interfacing just won't stick too.
If you think there could be a problem with the fusible sticking you can do a test swatch in the washer and dryer. If it doesn't come out right maybe you could use the fashion or lining fabric as interfacing.
I'm just thinking you want to keep the bulk down.

You are right--I want to keep the bulk down. I am thinking of using imperial broadcloth. The pattern suggests lightweight linen, lightweight denim (not an option;)), chambray, and something else. Ultimately, the blouse pattern will be used, in a modified form, for an heirloom blouse that I saw in Sew Beautiful 107. Right now, I am making a muslin to get the fit right. Then, the broadcloth, and then the heirloom. The heirloom blouse is not lined and has a facing added rather than a lining. So, given this information, do you still think the fusiknit is a good choice, or the really lightweight pellon?

Honestly with a blouse like that I'd be very tempted to use a sew in interfacing such as an organza that would give it the body but not the weight

I've always loved and trusted cotton organza but it is so hard to find!

Organza was my first thought. I may try to find that--or use a really light weight sew-in. I am concerned about the fusible bubbling or separating over time. Thanks everyone!
