Hi all, I am making a canvas tote, very easy not challenging at all really except I want to use rivets to hold the straps to the bag. I can not find any! Some stores have some for jeans, and I don't need the hole so I don't want grommets, I actually need the rivets to function as support. Has anyone used rivets when making a bag? If so what worked best?

I haven't been able to locate rivets. Have you considered doing bar tacks? This sewing method is often used in jean and other utility items as well as purses, even shoes.

Try a hardware store or sailmaker. Somewhere that might sell them for functional purposes.

How soon do you need your rivets? I have ordered rivets in the past from The Bee Lee Company. They sell through the mail only, no internet orders. You can request a catalog. They have rivets in all sizes as well as the necessary tools to attach them. Once your order is submitted, the turnaround time is quite fast and I have been pleased with what I have received. These rivets are heavy duty and I believe they come in 3 or 4 colors; black, antique brass, silver, bronze . . .or something like that. You may be able to inquire over the phone:

Note this contact info is from my 2002 catalog.

Hope this helps:smile:

I can't believe you people are finding them so hard to find. My local Fabricland store carries them. I needed to replace some on a saddlebag and just went and picked them up. I got DH to put them on, cause he is so much better at handling a hammer, besides I think he likes it when I come to him for help
