I want in too! I love the beach and bought some fabric while on vacation in Ocean City, NJ last summer. I think that qualifies me for this swap, right?

ok, I hate to admit it, but I have lost some of my fat quarters that I made up last week bought some material, made up into fq and put them in little plastic bags going to label them unwashed and put them some place in my sewing room so that when I got more material I could make up more fq and get them out in the mail, I have looked for two days. what happens to us when we reach a certain age, we lose our minds, I have been working on nightgown, blouses, chair cushions, cleaning sewing room
prayer for my mind, I lost that some place and need it back as quickly as possible.

All right Judy :bg: I have this theory about our minds. Really our brain is like a table that we just keep stacking things on. However, when the stack gets too high then things start falling off. So we really haven't lost our minds there is just stuff buried really deep on the table or it has fallen onto the floor.

BUT with age I find it hard to sometimes get down on the floor and look :bluesad:

AND...there is never enough time to sort through the table either

For those of you having troubles finding fabrics remember that the fabric can reflect what you think of when you think beach. Sunsets, sealife, shells, seaweed, sand, rocks, flip-flops, Hawaii prints, sailboats, oceanliners, coconuts, palm trees, etc. etc. Don't limit yourselves to sandcastles, pails and shovels.

Judy - Glad you are with me on the reasoning. Good to have reason and not excuses

Haven't had much luck finding beachy things here in Montana! But I am leaving for Salt Lake tomorrow and will have lots of opportunities to look there. But I promise to have them in the mail by June 23!

For those of you having a hard time finding fabric, don't forget about water or waves prints. I saw lots of those. Saw a few bikini and sunglasses prints too. And lots of Hawaiian prints.

If you are still having trouble and WANT a beach theme fabric, I can get some here at my local fabric shop. I think I paid 2.99 a yard. She has about 4-5 more beach/boating/ocean themed fabrics.

I have found my fat q. I had a box with scrap material in it in my closet of my sewing room, and dropped them in there.so it appears that I now need to clean the closet. that box has lots of pieces in it and I was going to back it up and give it away. good thing I didn't.
I will try to have my fq's out on saturday.

Hi all, I just wondered if anyone else encountered a rather large raise in mailing our swap envelope? I mailed mine today and it was 97 cents just to the states. It was only 1.00 for Canada....That doesnt make sense. I got Susies envelope today and she only paid 80 cents. I am tempted to take it to the post office and show them. Don't get me wrong, I know postage just went up, but I think I got railroaded....lol:shock:

Mine went out today. And yes there was an increase in the cost for me. To Canada it was only $1.00 BUT it was $1.30 for the ones to the States!!!!!!!! Something sure doesn't smell good in Denmark!!!!! I saved my reciept from the last ones I mailed and they where only .58 CENTS to the states!!! Now I know that a FQ is not going to gain any weigh when they weighed in at 1 oz each including the envelopes ( same ones I used last month too!!)!!!!

Oh, yeah mine are unwashed.

Postal Rates (http://pe.usps.com/text/dmm100/postage.htm)
OK from my deductions we should be paying 97 cents. 80 cents for large evnvelope and 17 cents for the non-machinable surcharge.

Or maybe not. I just looked at the measurements and the 6 x 9 falls within the normal envelope size.

I figured mine on line based on 2 oz which we all know it isn't. I put 2 39 cent stamps on mine because it came to less than that on the USPS site (Can't remember exactly what it said it would cost but I know it was less cuz I would have put more on it if required) Canada was $1.00.

Please let me know if anyone has to pay postage on mine-I will gladly reimburse you.

Ok I just went to USPS and it says 58 cents-which makes sense cuz before postage increase it was 63 cents and while the first oz went up in cost the 2nd and subsequent oz's are at a lower rate than they were.

I so glad you all got yours. That little girl that was working the counter the day I mailed them didn't know what she was doing. I got home and only paid .78 or something like that for the Canada one and .80 for everyone else's. She put the envelope in the little slots to test if it needed the extra postage and she squeezed it there and said it works. I said OK!! with me. Glad you all got them with no problem I was worried about that after I got home. Please let me know as you all get yours. I hope they all make it where they are suppose to go.

Hi All -

I bought my fabric today. Of course they didn't have enough of the one I really wanted so I had to buy that for myself and a different print to share! School is out tomorrow so I will begin cutting on Thursday and get them in the mail on Friday.

judymo and mother-in-law, I received your packages on Monday. I couldn't figure out what I was getting at first, especially when I didn't recognize the return address. Then I got really excited when I realized it was a "squishy".

My FQ's will be unwashed....the new washer hasn't been delivered yet - supposed to come tomorrow. Yeah, another new toy to play with.

Happy sewing,
Pam

I'm really behind this month. My son got married last month and we had the reception on Sat so everything else was just pushed to the side the last 2 weeks. I'm going shopping tomorrow and hope to have them mailed by the weekend. Last month I paid $1.30 to mail the fqs.

I got Carolyn's yesterday very cute fabric, frogs and flip flops. So clever to send fat eighths. I got Debby's today too Georgeous Fish love the colors. My granddaughter told me one of the fish was Nemo.

Not one alike so far. I didn't get any extra fabric when I got mine so I think I'm going back to get some more for me.

I just got back from the post office. My mailings only cost 58 cents each. The lady didn't weigh each, she did one and asked if they were all the same. I think I may have gotten a bargain.

I forgot to put a note inside. My pieces are UNWASHED.

This is my first swap and it's really fun! I look forward to the mail each day now. It's nice to get something other than bills and junk mail.

Happy stitching!

I finally got mine in the mail today. I went to the post office a few days ago to discover they were closed for lunch from 1:00 to 2:00. It was 1:05. I didn't wait. The post office I usually go to closes from 12:00 to 1:00. :bang: I thought they would be the same.
Mine cost $.97 to US and $1.00 to Canada. The lady at the post office commented on my envelopes so I told her I was in a fabric swap. I told her how some of us are paying different amounts for the same weight and same addresses. She said if the envelopes weighed the same as mine and would fit into this measuring slot thing she used, they should have cost the same as mine. Mine weighed from 1.2 oz to 1.6 oz each . (I had 3 different fabrics, so that could be why) She said it could be that the ones who paid more were charged for a parcel. She didn't have a clue why it could cost less. I guess y'all got bargain.
Oh yeah, mine are UNWASHED. Hope you like them.

Carolyn did you send two fat quarters then? I just assumed that it was fat eighths since there was two in there. Or did I get two by mistake? I got frogs and flip flops I thought both were from you. Now I'm totally confused.

Lyn I got yours today and I must say everyone's fabric is so colorful and vibrant. Lyn your fabric reminds me of Hawaii. Beautiful!!!!

Well Carolyn I'm so happy you are my friend, they are just beautiful and cute. They make me want to go on vacation. :bg: That was sssssoooo nice of you to give us two. I hope you have some left for yourself. I didn't get enough of mine for me I have to go back and get some more.

Well ladies I'm getting closer to being able to quilt my tops when I finish them. I got my frame and machine set up and I've been playing but I'm waiting on my second set of handles that are coming Monday so I can do some pantographs. I'll post pics when I make something.

Susie, I always buy a yard extra. I was at a quilt shop here yesterday. And I found the bolt of fabric of the fat quarter you send me. I was so surprised so I started looking around and found a couple more that I have received.

I hope you have fun with your machine. I would love to have one but no room. Maybe some day.

Wow! thanks to all for the wonderful beachy FQs. Just returned home from picking my daughter up in Salt Lake last week. Also celebrated my mother's 80th while there. We had nearly 50 people there. Fun! I have wonderful prints from judymo, bama, hogmami, sheysmema, motherinlaw, esrun, sewhappie, and debby. Boy did I have fun opening them all. I was tempted to wait until the rest came but couldn't do it! Mine will be in the mail on Wednesday.
Thanks especially to Gina for hosting this.

Vicki I got your fishies yesterday, Thank you for that pretty FQ, and my granddaughter wanted to take your FQ home with her. She called it her baby blanket. I had to give her a FQ out of my stash from the quilt shop because she uses them to cover her baby dolls with she says it's her baby blanket.

Terry I got yours today too. I love the colors and it's so pretty. Looks like mountains and water and sky all in one. Very pretty. Thank you.

The beachy fabrics will go in the centers.

Oh Bama, that's too much like the double wedding ring for me. I've made two of those in the last year and I don't want to tackle those curved seams in the near future. I was thinking of something a little simpler for me. You have fun with those curves, girl!

Dear Swap Friends,

Due to a series of ironic events, my FQ's did not go out until today! My apologies - sometimes life does not go as planned. Some of you will receive them by the end of this week, I'm sure. Most should be there by July 4th. Vickki's, however, may be longer because from Montana I think it goes to Seattle and then by slow boat to China and then the long way to Canada.

Once again, my sincere apologies.

Jeke

Looks like the SWAP is going pretty well. I am busy with the kids and work so I have not been following along. Has everyone sent their FQ's? Are they arriving? I know we have been having some issues at the Post Office. Please send me a PM if I need to contact anyone about their FQ's. Thanks!!!!

Jay I got your today. I'm not in the July swap but will send you one so you'll have one for everyone you sent out. Thanks they are both very pretty. I have to count all mine but I think I have most of them. I have a box of fabric for these swaps and I must say I have a box full. I wish I could get in the July one but I better not. I'll be busy with the new grandbaby soon I hope.
I'm regressing back into my youth, I just have to figure out how I'm going to convience my body to come along with me.
