No sewing here. I'm still bedridden so I read about sewing and plan projects in my head. This list really helps. My machines feel very neglected these days. Marty |

I am making purses. Lots of purses. About 1 1/2 months ago, decided to get a booth at our local festival and sell one of a kind purses, totes, bags, wallets, etc. It will be 2 weeks from today. So far I have about 30 items. Well, need to go get busy, have 5 purses almost finished and would like to finish these 5 today.

I've made a few bags, a top from a pattern I drafted from another top I liked, a skirt which I haven't hemmed yet and I have a ton of mending and a few UFOs calling my name right now. I'll probably do those this afternoon and then I'd like to get to a jacket I've planned for my dd - before she grows so much I won't have enough fabric. If you keep clicking on the arrows you'll see some of the other bags - there are a few others as well (2 identical to the green kids one - except that I remember to put interfacing in their handles) but I didn't get photos of them all. They are straighter than they appear in the photos. http://s145.photobucket.com/albums/r234/PaulineG_photo/?action=view¤t=Mayphotos099.jpg Pauline

Those did turn out nicely, Pauline! I like the green one too. Looking through your other pics I have to say I would dearly love the rug in your living room. Those are my colors exactly and it's not easy to find them all together. Wish I could find a rug just like that. If you were here in the States I'd be pestering you to find out where you bought it. Good job. Lennie Oops! Forgot to say that I'm not making anything right now.......sigh........just busy making the house beautiful on the outside. Two walls sided, newly windowed and painted. Two to go...the tough ones of course. |

Not making anything right now. Been working on home repairs, and I've had terrible muscle spasms as a result. Spent the day today on drugs. When I get all better, more clothes for daughter, and try changing a neckline on a t shirt for me. Hmmm...how would a 40+ woman look in a peasant style t-shirt? I liked my daughters a lot....I may try it on mine. I'm also thinking of making a tiered skirt for a college reunion. Sigh. Need to get crackin' on the college reunion plans... Theresa

I just finished restyling a man's t-shirt into a peasant top for me. It turned out better than I'd hoped! Also finished some mending, and now I'm cutting out a sundress for myself to wear to an afternoon wedding next weekend. Then I've got curtains to make for my daughter's new apartment and some dresses to finish for my dgd. Whew! Better get a move on! |

I've been working on a few outfits for my daughters to take on our trip next week. So far I managed 2 short outfits, one stripwork corset top, and a pair of capri's, all in 2 days, i'm pooped lol. I still have a few more days before we leave so I hope I can get a few more things put together. I will post pics of my finished projects when I get back. |

I'm not brave enough to do that lol. The corset top is EXTREMELY cute. This is the pattern I used. http://www.youcanmakethis.com/products/DaintyDesigns/StripworkRibbonTop.htm My daughter loves the Pink Panther and Wal*mart had 3 different cordinating prints. It turned out so adorable and she absolutely loves it. |

Now I am working on a simple (HA) top for my dd. I used this pattern for my first sewing project for her, and had a huge amount of trouble with it. Being more experienced, I thought it would be a breeze. I traced the correct size, added length, and cut my material yesterday. Today I have worked on it for what seems like forever. I still can't get it right. I've finally figured out a way to do the shoulders, but first I have to rip out all the seams in the arm pit area, as well as the straps (it is a sleeveless top), and some of the facing. When I finish this, I am throwing this pattern away!

Almost finished DD's 2nd dress and waiting for the final tryon so I can get the hem done and make sure the zipper's in the right place. And then I made myself a white and black jean jacket yesterday to go with the white knee length shorts I made last week. I'm very pleased with both of them. I think after this many years I'm getting the hang of making stuff for me! Next on the list, another pair of shorts for me, another dress for DD and another shirt for DH. But I think I'll do up a baby rag quilt in between, cause it's nice to have something uncomplicated to do for a day!

The sewing guild I'm in has a challenge project contest every year. This year we got books of those home decorating samples. Most of mine were dark reds, purples and a few reddish browns. I used the sample pieces to make patchwork panels, which I inserted into the yokes, back middle, front panels, cuffs and bottom bands of a denim jacket. I still haven't put the buttons on. I'll try to post a photo when I'm done. This was a great creative outlet for me. It went way beyond just simply sewing. Shelly Moon

Here's something new to make. A belly band! My SIL is pregnant - yay baby sewing coming up - and is starting to get to the phase where her normal clothes don't quite fit anymore but she's not ready for maternity wear. She found these items on a maternity site and asked me to make some for her. It's basically a firmly fitted knit tube that goes from under the bust line down to the hips that you wear under other tops. It sort of looks like those mock white bits that extend just below the hem or sleeves of some knit tops - if you do it in white. I'm doing one in black and after we've checked the fit properly (I'm just working from measurements) will make a white one and maybe a couple more colours. The site that she saw them on was selling them for $32 each! Pauline

I've just finished one pair of dress trousers for DH for work and am almost finished on the second. They're from forest green wool crepe and look really good; though I'm over trousers for him atm. My next project will happen after I cut the 67 yards of velour I have in my room atm and post it off to its owners; then I'll be either doing a quilt for youngest (Cars theme), or something for me. |
