I have scuffed some black print fabric with red flowers. The scuff is across the front of a dress. My marking pencil must not have been chalk and when I tried to scrub it out with a toothbrush gently scrubbed over the area It left a ,lighter that the rest, scuff type mark across the front of the dress.

Oh I hope that washing it works! How rotten for that to happen. Good luck.

washed it, ironed it with white vinegar/ looks slightly better. still ruined. oh well! Live and learn. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I could make a type decorative stripe across it perhaps?? what do you think ladies. I'm sort of tired of working on it. Maybe the trash is the place for it. I have learned to be careful with pintucks and to make a trial fitting beforcontinuing with construction. I had to obe brave and make double ended darts to make it fit better. I also learned to be more careful with the placment of the toop of a zippper. Is it not fashionable to put a hook and eye at the top of the zipper? Mom always did that.

Years ago, when GS was a baby, his mother spilled Lasagna on his new pretty character shirt he was to be photographed in.. It turned the white trim on the character's suit pink and orange in some spots.. I took a small paint brush and some of my acrylic white paint for fabrics and touched that shirt up and no one ever knew the difference..Maybe you could disguise your scuff mark like that.. With paint , I mean..

Can you post a pic of where it is??

Could you put a lace/ gauzy type over lay over it? It would mean pullling the dress apart, but it would depend on the material and style of dress I guess.
Cheers, Soph.

I always use hooks and eyes at the top of my zippers unless they are on the side, I just don't trust zippers to stay up, especially with the strapless dresses my daughter likes. And even on skirts I put in the skirt hook n eye.

I think I will use a hook and eye next tim. the top of the back hase a little rise just where it meets the zipper. and since I messed it up that is an eztra lesson that I have learned from this project. I tried one more thing to improve the looks of the scuff mark on this dress. (Don't Laugh to hard) I took some salade oil and rubbed over the scuff and then put the dress back in the wash in cold water. It actually hid the scuff a little. I might do it one more time. I am slightly fadeing the rest of the dress to match the scuff but it was just a remnant I bought to practice on. I just hate to waste it.:re:

Here's the sundress and a skirt I restyled. The sundress comes from Wildginger's Childsplay software. Thanks everyone for the sympathy and the help with the scuff mark pn the dress. It still shows a tiny bit. Let me know what you think. The skirt I restyled was a to short to tite miniskirt handed down to Amanda Grandchild #4. I will have to do a bit more work on it. Amanda says it has to much decoration on it. I will take off the brown ruffel at the bottom of the skirt and make it a brown band at the top of the denim ruffel. She thought she could wear it with the changes. Oh and I will need to make a longer sash. It only leaves a little to hang down after tied.
OH, There is also a pair of boxershorts (From Wildginger)I made For Matthew Grandchild #5
