I bought new undies yesterday ~ I know you'd like to know that. They're lycra/nylon microfiber blend. It was a package of two white, one beige and one black. I threw them in the washer with a white gentle load with bras and other "softer" items, cotton mostly. I (stupid, stupid, stupid) thought "I'll just throw in the black undies as well. They're nylon and lycra. They won't bleed." Big mistake! My bras are all gray and everything else had a gray cast to it. Seems, after investigating, that the black nylon, lycra undies have a REINFORCED COTTON CROTCH! I should have known this but brain-farted. I ran it all (except the black undies) through a bleach rinse cycle and all but the bras and now gray nylon/lycra undies came out fine. My question is how on earth can I get the gray out of the bras and undies?? Would color remover from Rit work?? Obviously bleach doesn't. The bras were white, pink and beige but I don't care if they're all white. They're soooo ugly now. Any help out there??? Lennie |

What a bummer Lennie. I know in Australia you can get a little satchet made by Rit (the dye mob) to remove colour, called Run Away. But I have only used it for a white cotton top that turned pink. Maybe that could help? Either that or you may have to dye tham all hot pink or even red. Cheers, Soph.

Ooooo, I like hot pink and red bras and underwear! I'll pick up some of that color remover stuff but I'm not optimistic. Guess I'll have to buy all new bras. They're not new but they're still in good shape and weren't cheap! thx, Sophie. Lennie |

Hey, success! I tried the Rit Color Remover this morning and it really worked. I was not optimistic. I did the stove top method since I have a front loading washer and stood there and stirred patiently for 1/2 hour while reading. The awful gray came out. The panties are white and the bras are a very muted shade of what they were originally but not at all gray and dingy. That was certainly worth $1.99 and 45 minutes of my time. Lennie |

Glad it worked out for you Lennie. I just finished washing a load of fabric I bought, blacks, greens, and a pinky color that I am at a loss to describe. When I threw it all in, I hesitated for a minute, then added a 'color catcher'. When it came out of the wash I was happy, as the color catcher was pretty dark grey, and the rest of the fabric was normal looking. They are expensive, but worth it for those times you - just aren't sure.

Glad you had some luck. But I still think red could have been interesting.
Cheers, Soph.
