My daughter (15!) keeps telling me every day how many days we have left until book 7 is released and also how many days are left until the next movie. She's even started begging me to take her to the book store at midnight to buy the book. She's re-reading book 6 for the 4th or 5th time. Now look what she's talking about all the time: http://www.universalorlando.com/harrypotter/ A Harry Potter theme park to open at Universal Studios in 2010. I have to admit I'd like to go there too. She'll be graduating high school when it opens in 2010. She says she would want to go there for her graduation present. |

Check out the Harry Potter fabrics on Ebay, maybe you could make her a pillow or book covers for her collection of Potter books!!!!! |

I'm going to the midnight release of HP 7. Admittedly, I'm a book nerd. Ticia |

At least you have 2 years before the theme park opens! That does sound interesting. I've read all the books so far and have seen the movies also. I don't know about getting the final book asap, but I will get it too!

DD is really getting obsessed now. She's begging me to order her a S.P.E.W. shirt (Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare) to wear to the next movie. I went into her room today and over the top of a Dumbledore poster she has, she has put a sign that says "R.I.P.". I'm not sure if she means the actor or the character. A friend of hers is planning to go to the movie with us and I think DD likes driving her crazy with all of this stuff. Her friend has seen the movies, but is not interested in reading the books. DD keeps pointing out things that's she's missing by not reading the books. He friend tells her she's the biggest nerd. The funny thing is that I'm 41 years old and when I hear dd call our cat an animagus or say a quote from one of the books, I know what she's talking about. |

Who else got their book???? Our local WalMart had a Harry Potter party planned last night. DD and I have been planning to go to the midnight release for months and even tho we have visiting relatives, we went and took some of them with us. As we got closer to WalMart we noticed that it was completely dark! Storms that moved through yesterday afternoon had made the power go out! The manager was walking around the parking lot and came to the car to talk to us. He said they were trying to get the power back on as soon as possible but probably wouldn't open the store til 5 am, but might be able to pass out the books in the parking lot. We sat there for nearly an hour. Then he said the district manager called and said no, they would wait until the store reopened. I thought dd was going to start crying. SOOOOOO.... we drove to Birmingham. We almost went to Books a Million but decided to go on to the next WalMart. Thank Goodness. A woman at WM said the line at the book store was way down the sidewalk. There maybe 100 people waiting at Walmart by the time 12:01 am arrived. At WM they were passing out Hogwart's house bracelets so you could reserve your book. Anyway, it was fun. To me and dd anyway.SHe's still trying to get her 12yo cousin interested enough to start the first book. I don't think it's gonna happen, tho my MIL is asking me questions about the story. I told her she should start reading them. I got my mother started last week. SIL and niece shopped while we waited in line and all the kids answered trivia questions and ate cupcakes. I got to judge a costume contest. (I picked a Fred Weasley! Anyone brave enough to wear a sweater that ugly in public deserves a prize) We got our books, and dd was reading while we waited in the checkout line. I'm off to read now. |

My dear GS is here for the weekend.. His aunt promised him the book and she had the voucher from BAM already paid for.. He was soooo pitiful last night trying to persuade me to go get him another book so he could start it last night.. (his aunt said no dice on going out at midnight.) He was kinda pouty this am, and all of a sudden his dad came to the door with his book from the aunt.. I have never seen such a smile.. This is the one with the deepest dimples in the world anyway..!!! He has been silent sam ever since... I had to almost punch him to find out if he was ready for lunch.. I seized my chance to get on the computer while he is occupied.. I am so glad his dad brought the book to him.. He said "you don't really think I would make him wait all weekend, do you ??"..

My husband just handed me a copy but I'm about half way into Alexandre Dumas' Twenty Years After (the second of the Three Musketeers) and it is getting good, so Harry may have to wait a bit. Dorothy |

I'm up to chapter 7. I wish everyone would stay outside now. My daughter told me to have all the muggles leave her alone or she'll tell me what has happened so far from what she's read. |

I finished it a few hours ago, and it was very worth the wait. My best friend and I went to a midnight release, and Jeff watched the kids. He's also pretty much handled the kids while I ignored everyone and read. It was rather funny. Now, I'm off to bed. I was up until 3 last night reading, and didn't really get to make up much of that this morning. I was greeted by a two year old at 5:30 this morning, who then decided he needed to sleep in our bed. That was interesting. Ticia |

we only ordered one copy...big mistake. I get it next after dd finishes. She met us for dinner tonight and said it is interesting... I have called her about four times today "to just check in to see if she is finished yet". She just laughs and tells me she would finish sooner if she didn't have so many interruptions! She promises to have it for me tomorrow evening if I fix dinner for her. I think I will let her clean up the dishes LOL

DH bought the book at Walmart at Midnight Friday/Saturday. However, they didn't have the same party atmosphere, but he did get a poster and 2 bracelets (bought 2 books; one for us -- one for a buddy of his?). He has been reading it non-stop and keeps asking me if I want to read it yet. He "has" 2 bookmarks, 1 for each of us. Told him no way, I'd rather just have him finish and then I can read it at my own pace. Unfortunately, between working and having the flu yesterday, nothing was done around the house. I was truly ticked at him, as he just couldn't get his head out of the book. He took it to work today (has to be there, but there's never anything to do), so maybe he'll finish. Hope the rest of you are enjoying it! Peggy

I didn't think I would be either. Two of the movies were out before I read the 1st book. I picked up the first one after dd brought it home from the library in the 3rd or 4th grade and thought I'd read the first chapter just to see what all the hype was about. I couldn't put it down. This is the only book series that I've wanted to read more then once. There's things you miss (hints, clues) that you pick up after you've read them more than once. I hope J.K. Rowling does indeed start a new adventure. I read that she said she was finished with HP but was ready to start something new. |

An article I read two days ago said she's going to write a book about Orpheus. There's a British publisher that has a Greek mythology series written by different famous British authors, and she's going to write one. could be amusing. Ticia |

Ticia, My daughter was talking about that this morning. She's getting excited about it. We couldn't find any info about when it might possibly be published. Do you know? In the meantime, she's reading a book series about Merlin. She's had her nose in one book or another since school got out. I told her she should get outside more so she went out to sit on the porch and read. She's going to go back to school as pale as she was in winter. She's supposed to read an Agatha Christie book before school starts back, but hasn't started on it. I told her it has to be next. |

If she hasn't read any of the Agatha Christie books yet she might really enjoy them. I love english mysteries.

She supposed to read The Mysterious Mr. Quin. Last summer she had to read To Kill a Mockingbird. For some reason she puts off reading her assigned books til the last minute. She said she prefers reading them right before having a test on them so she doesn't forget anything. The teachers at her school always give the students at least one summer reading assignment. I love it. Last year my son was assigned 4 books to read before he started 12th grade. Well, he had a long list of books to choose from . He had to pick 4. I love the teacher he had for that class. He picked a book that's now a favorite of his and he keeps trying to get me to read it. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. |

I haven't heard anything on who's picking it up in the U.S., but I'm sure it will be and all the major bookstores will send out information on it. After all, I get emails from Barnes and Noble all the time on authors I've bought there. So, I'm sure you'll hear about it when it comes out in a year or two. Ticia |

Here's a pic that dd put on my computer today. This is at about 2 am right after we came home from getting our Deathly Hallows book, so I look tired and sleepy. (and no make-up!) Just look at the cat. I wanted to start reading it but Cupcake had other plans. He looks like he was reading along with me. http://s53.photobucket.com/albums/g53/loribama/?action=view¤t=100_4392.jpg |
