I am in the process of making handles for a purse and the dept stores in my area do not have macrame cord or any black cord. Then I tought to make an I-cord and it did not look right.
How would I make a cord for a handle on a purse?
I have mastered installing zippers with much help from the ladies on this site and appreciate any input you might want to share on how to make a cord. I have tried Micheals, Fanny's Fabric, Walmart, and another stores but no luck
thanks

So, you are just wanting to make covered cording? That's not hard. You just measure around your cord and add maybe 1/8 inch to the over all width and a seam allowance. Use a fast turn is pretty cool because when you go to turn your cord, open the seam and hook your cording AND your fabric end. As you turn the fabric, the cording will remain and you'll have covered cording. Some cording is just batting with a net over it...don't use that. Use the twisted, stronger cording...it's cheap too.

If you want to rouch the cord (I never spell that right), you just cut the cord covering slightly bigger and gather the covering onto the cording to give it a gathered look.

If I were applying this to pillows, by the way, I place the cord inside the covering and gather as I go, leaving a flange on the outside to us to sew it to my pillows.
