Hi everyone,

Just to let you know I am finally finding it possible to resurface a little...
My grandma passed away on June 2 after weeks of intense suffering and anguish. We buried her last Wednesday, just a week ago.

She was 98 and some will say that this had to happen... but she is one of the most exceptional persons I have met in my whole life, and I was very close to her. She is leaving a whole void, not only in our hearts but because of the role she played within the family.

I could go on and on about her exceptional virtues and the many trials she went through since she was born in 1908... if there are saints among "ordinary" people, she is undoubtedly one of them.

So, just to explain why I was away... I will try to go back to posting more often now.

Those of you who know me a little know that although my grandma never could teach me sewing (she didn't see well enough when I started 3 years ago), she has always been my first and foremost inspiration. She was a professional seamstress and her talent and excellency were amazing. It was definitely part of our special bond and part of what kept her going - you should have seen her lit up when I visited her and showed her my latest projects. Her memory became suddenly much sharper again when we talked about sewing.

I must keep on sewing, for the love of her.

Hugs to you all
Isabelle

I'm sorry to hear your news Isabelle. I knew of your grandmother's illness (yours is one of the few blogs I read) and know it's been a really tough time for you. You're very lucky to have had such a bond with her and shared something so special.

Hugs to you too. I hope that the day soon comes when your thoughts of her only bring you smiles and not tears.

Big hugs to you hon. I know it is rough right now, but just remember the good times and you will get through it. This is when our family would have a good old fashioned Irish wake. We celebrate the life and remember the great times. Everyone telling stories about the person of honor, what they meant to us, how our lives were enriched just by knowing and being loved and loving the person. Silly stories, funny stories, heart warming stories are all told. Pictures of their life shown. She sounds like she was a great woman. Remember that and that she loved you.
You will make it. If you need to share your stories here, because family isn't around to share with, we would love to hear them. We are here for you.

Isabelle,
I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I know it's hard to let them go even when they're that old. Sounds like she was a wonderful lady. (((Hugs))) from Alabama.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother, Isabelle. It sounds like she must have had an extraordinary and long life at 98, but of course that doesn't make it much easier on those of us left behind. My grandfather died 2 years ago at 90, and it was hard on all of us. I'm sure you made her proud.
