Well, some of you know that I am treating myself for my 60th (gasp!) birthday by attending Martha Pullen's sewing camp at the end of July...Just received the supply list...Okay, I am taking Beverly Sheldrick's school and we are making a jacket and skirt with "creative heirloom patchwork" using both machine and hand work...Now for the kicker...I'm told to bring "your favorite A-line skirt pattern that fits you well." Well, darn, I haven't sewn for myself in forever...and for a reason...I HATE the clothes that I make for myself...So, anyone out there have any advice?? I am 5'2", 135 lbs, have developed that d**m mature figure (you know, a belly!!) And of course, I've never had a problem sitting too long b/c of my posterior cushion... And the kicker is, I'm leaving town for a week and have several commitments before I leave for Huntsville...Only gives me a few days to find, purchase and make a sample out of muslin...Help, Help...Paula |

If I were in your situation I'd take a look at the patterns available on line and pick out a couple. Then I would stop at a Joann Fabrics store and pick one up. An A-line shouldn't take too much fitting -- just around the middle. http://www.sewingpatterns.com/ That is a good place to browse the pattern catalogues over morning coffee or in the middle of the night. These people are usually pretty fast about getting a pattern to you but not as fast as a quick stop at the local shop. But put your blinders on so you don't get distracted. I think Simplicity are cheap in JoAnn Fabrics right now. Dorothy |

Hey Dorothy, that Simplicity site was a huge help... finally made it to a JoAnn's and I went right to the few patterns that I had chosen...Saved me a ton of time...I'm supposing that all the pattern companies have sites too...Gracias... |
