Hi,

I'm an English seamstress living in Greece, it's great to find and join this group! I sew for a living, but that doesn't mean I know everything!!! I have questions, but hopefully I'll be able to answer some too!

Hi Kerkyra, welcome to the group. What type of sewing do you like to do? Is it easy to find fabric shops in Greece? One of my friends is going in Sept to the Greek Isles for vacation. I would love to be able to tell her about some fabric shops. Hope that you will check back often and share photos of your projects.
Happy Stitching

Hi everyone, thank you for being so welcoming!! I do allsorts of sewing from alterations to bridal. At the moment I am currently working on 2 mother-of-the-bride outfits plus some other stuff. I'm a bit under pressure at the moment!! I also like to dabble in corsetry and lingerie in my free time (not much of that at the moment though!!).

Greece is indeed very beautiful, with wonderful people, so visit if you can!!! As for fabric shops, choice is limited and good quality fabric is very, very expensive here. I prefer to order fabrics from other european countries and the USA and it makes more sense for my clients.

Marty, your friend might try to find Greek silk, it's made only in one region of Greece (Xanthe in the far eastern region) and is very high quality. I'd love to get my hands on some but it's a bit expensive!!

I look forward to being part of the group:love:

Hi Sarah and welcome. It's a great bunch here - all kinds of skills and from all over the globe. So - an English lady now living in Greece - big fan of Shirley Valentine are you? Or do you get sick of hearing that?

Look forward to seeing you around the boards and hearing more about your projects.
