What's wrong with this pic?

I finally started working on a new dress for my dd. I didn't realize what happened until after I ironed the seams and turned it right side out! :bang: and

I guess I need to make it smaller on photobucket before moving it over...........

Welcome to the club. I've done that on more than one occasion. Look at it this way, at least your DD will enjoy looking down and looking at the print. I've even put garments together when one side is upside down and the other is right.:bg:

Cut yourself some slack. :) If she were too big to appreciate this as her new silly-upside-down dress, then you'd have selected a print to match her sophistication. Have fun with it, and let it be. If you can't bring yourself to let her wear it out, then you could add some fancy trims and a long skirt made with some closet remnants and make it into a dress up gown. When I started shopping at the better fabric shops in my area, it made me sweat at first. But, it also made me spend more time looking things over before making that first cut.

You'll have to view it as a lesson learnt and hopefully never to be repeated. At least it was only a small amount. I've cut things out wrong so many times - I will eventually learn not to cut out fabric when I'm tired or distracted.

She probably will like to wear it upside down - and if not you could possibly recut it and make it into something else - a bag maybe.

Still cute though - and it looks really well made.

could you make an applique' out of scraps & put it on as a contrast to make it look planned? I think when my DD was little she would have loved it because she could see the pictures the right way.
I once made a fleece with Cookie Monster on it completly inside out instead of saying YUM he was saying MUY. lucky for me I could rip out all the stitches & fix that.

Cute dress and fabric just the same.

Good idea, Barb. How about some patch pockets turned the right way??

I've made things in the past with the nap going the wrong way. That's so easy to do when you're trying to conserve fabric and lay pieces upside down, the wrong way, etc.

We have all made that same mistake. Have fun sewing and don't sweat the small stuff. Life is too short and I think its kinda cute.

We all do it.
It was just a few months ago that I cut the sleeves upside down for a shirt for my son-in-law.
I have a school picture of my daughter in kindergarten and the sleeves are on the wrong sides.
Other than -- well you know -- it's a pretty little dress.

At least the front isn't in two pieces with one side going the wrong direction. I don't know why it is harder to see the one way fabrics when you step away!

I just messed up on my dress I am making to wear Sat. The bodice front is in 2 pieces & I placed the pattern face down (luckily I did both pieces this way) Now my wrap dress will wrap to the right instead of left. I hope no one else notices.

I knew I was due for a sewing snafu soon. I wish I could say it happened because I was tired but it was three o'clock in the afternoon.
I had actually bought a couple of yards of this fabric to redo my dd's bedroom (she kept saying that she wants to be an animal doctor). Before I could cut/sew anything the in-laws said they would like to redo her room as her 4th b/d gift which turned out to be butterflies and flowers.
It's not as if I don't have enough material to sew up another dress (right side up this time). My dd loves it upside down and wants to wear it as a nightgown. I had offered to cut off the lower half of the dress, flip it over so the puppies/kittens faced the right way and attach it as a ruffle to "crotch-cut-out" shorts but she got upset and said, "I love dresses!"
She's the proud new owner of an Upside Down dress.

Snap a few photos of her wearing it. You'll be glad you did 20 years from now.

I think it's a great "mistake" since it's right side up to your daughter!!!! I once made a pair of window drapes for a client with the hanging fruit pattern perfectly matched "upside down." :monkey:
